If you haven’t heard of Curtis Bashaw, he is a New Jersey hotelier whose properties turned Cape May into a chic beach resort. He has now turned his eye to the Hamptons, specifically Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor, on the east end of Long Island, about 100 miles outside of Manhattan.

About Sag Harbor
Sag Harbor has a rich history as a thriving whaling port. The village is now known for its waterfront resort qualities, meandering tree-lined streets, 18th and 19th century architecture and casually sophisticated way of life.

On foot, stroll up and down Main Street to discover singular boutiques, galleries, and local museums, or dine at the most widely-acclaimed restaurants in the Hamptons. By boat, explore the stunning local waterways, coves, and marinas. Or drive just minutes to the freshest local farm stands, a surprisingly deep array of wineries, and some of the finest ocean beaches on the East Coast.

Review Of Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor
Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor is a freshly renovated, 67-room inn. It embraces the history of the original 1960’s hotel, which boasted prominent guests including John and Elaine Steinbeck, Paul Newman, Art Garfunkel, and Richard Kind. The new resort maintains the name and footprint of the original structure, but now includes a brand new pool area, updated guest rooms, a restaurant and bar serving the freshest food and drinks, and beautiful landscaping.

Situated both on the harbor and a just short walk from Main Street, Baron’s Cove features charming village & harbor facing rooms and suites with plush bedding. They even have dog-friendly rooms for guests who travel with their pets. Family friendly amenities include the harbor side heated saltwater pool, tennis court, fitness studio, spa services and complimentary beach service with transportation.

Restaurant
Food has been crucial in the success of Bashaw’s offerings in Cape May. The same goes for Baron’s Cove. The revamped Sag Harbor restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring fresh and local dishes (including Lobster Thermidor) by chef Matty Boudreau. Boudreau didn’t have far to travel—he was overseeing Vine Street Café on Shelter Island and has experience with such acclaimed chefs as Charlie Trotter in Chicago, Tommy DiGiovanni in New Orleans, and Anton Edelmann in London. At Baron’s Cove Boudreau he focuses on surf and turf dishes that compliment this beach town. A special treat is watching the sunset over Sag Harbor Cove from this second floor dining room and outdoor terrace – a truly magical experience.

Pool & Beach
Summer vacation wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the beach. Although not on the beach itself, Baron’s Cove offers guests a complimentary shuttle, plus use of private beach chairs, umbrellas and plush towels, which takes all of the hassle out beaching.

Alternatively you can just lounge poolside, in the privacy of oversized umbrellas on the poolside lawn. Get lost in this summer’s bestseller or share a light meal or cocktail with friends.

Wellness & Spa
Take care of your mind and body during your stay with a massage in the treatment rooms or head to the fitness studio which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offering cardio machines and free weights. Practice your backhand with a private instructor or a tennis partner or simply enjoy the fresh air and stunning view of Sag Harbor with a stroll through the village or ride to the nearby Mashomack Preserve on Shelter Island on one of the hotels complimentary bikes.

Bashaw’s signature is creating a charming hotel with unfussy elegance. Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor has charm, style and boutique chic in the bucket loads. If you are looking for an escape with a picture perfect pool overlooking a little harbour and access to a super beach equipped with hotel loungers and fluffy towels you really won’t find better.
