Four Seasons is one of the most luxurious hotel brands in the world, and it is natural to ask the question, is there a Four Seasons in Barcelona? After all, there’s a Four Seasons in Madrid, which is one of the best luxury hotels in Madrid, so surely there must be a Four Seasons in Barcelona? If there were, it would surely be one of the best Four Seasons in Europe?

Barcelona is a beachside city on the North East Coast of Spain, not far from France, and bordering the Mediterranean. It is famous for its culture, architecture, and a world-class drinking and dining scene, as well as the famous Camp Nou stadium and the Barça football team. One of the main achievements of the city was the hosting of the Olympic games in 1992 which has made it one of the main tourist attractions of Spain. We have reviewed the best executive club lounges in Barcelona.

Where Should I Stay?

Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is currently the best address in town, on the city’s famous Passeig de Gràcia, near the Casa Batlló by Gaudi with its fabulous façade.

This new luxury hotel is situated in an elegant mid-20th-century building, recreated with a highly stylized contemporary interior by Spanish born designer Patricia Urquiola.

Offering some of the most exclusive accommodation in Barcelona, there are just 120 rooms and suites at this premiere address. Interiors are by one of Spain’s leading designers, Patricia Urquiola; the results are enduring modern designs that incorporate subtle reflections of our oriental heritage.

Views are either over Barcelona’s most stylish boulevard, Passeig de Gràcia, or the landscaped interior garden. A number of guestrooms have a balcony or terrace, from where you can admire the surrounding modernist façades.

The restaurant, lounge, and bars are contemporary spaces that mirror the artistic spirit and attitude of the city. Moments, the 2-starred gourmet restaurant is blazing a trail in traditional Catalan cuisine by one of the world’s most acclaimed female chefs, Carme Ruscalleda. The Banker’s Bar has a designer interior and is an art exhibit in its own right, with a display created from the original collection of bank security boxes. A high energy space to step out of the shops, meet after business, or enjoy a late-night cocktail and some smooth music. Terrat rooftop is an exclusive retreat located on the 9th floor with fabulous 360-degree views of the Barcelona skyline whilst enjoying famous chef Gastón Acurio’s Peruvian delights. Blanc is located on the lower floor, is the heart of the hotel, and offers Carme Ruscalleda’s cuisine in a casual bistro with gastronomy based on local and fresh products.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is a serene space created with a sophisticated sense of contemporary style and spice of the orient. Professional therapists deliver holistic rejuvenation with a range of luxurious therapies from around the world.

There is also a 24-hour gym and a state of the art fitness facility. Guests are provided with complimentary amenities, including headphones, towels, and chilled drinks. Personal trainers are on hand to develop personalized exercise programs. There is even a stylish dipping pool on the rooftop overlooking the city where you can relax under the Mediterranean sun and enjoy some cooling refreshments.

Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel is one of the few luxury hotels in Barcelona which is right on the beach, yet within 20 minutes from Las Ramblas and the historic city center.

The nearest metro station is 10 minutes’ walk away and from there you can connect to a tram which takes you nearer to the hotel if you don’t fancy the walk. The hotel is actually located in the city’s Olympic Village area (and is home to a Frank Gehry sculpture). The attraction of this hotel is, of course, the beach plus the two excellent pools.

Renowned the world over for its impeccable service and lavish accommodations, the stunning 44 storey Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, offers panoramic sea or city views from each of its 483 guestrooms, suites, and 28 duplex penthouses. The latter located on the top floors of the hotel and offer butler service and the use of a MINI Cooper.

The rooms are great here with particularly lovely bathrooms with Asprey toiletries (top suites have Bulgari), a bath, and a very large shower. Interestingly, some of the rooms are looking up the beach at the W-hotel, which is in a similar location to the Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Both are good choices in Barcelona although only one has a club lounge.

A recently opened spa, 43 The Spa, has a stunning location on the 43rd floor of the hotel, with panoramic views and natural light the spa offers eight treatment rooms. With separate ladies and men’s wet areas including Sauna, steam bath, ice-fountains, and vitality pools the Spa offers a wide range of body and facial treatments with natural Sodashi products. The outdoor rooftop pool is stunning with stylish decking and comfy loungers and is pictured above. There is also a family pool and whirlpool set in terrace gardens together with the Fitness Centre.

Let us not forget the stunning collection of Spanish art; and five restaurants, including the acclaimed two-Michelin-star Enoteca (with a wine cellar topping 700 labels).

The Ritz-Carlton does have a reputation for running excellent club lounges. You need to book a room with executive club lounge access to get executive floor privileges on the 33rd floor with a triple-height ceiling and great views across the marina and coastline. The club provides complimentary breakfast, tea service, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts.

The disadvantage of this hotel, much like the W-Barcelona, is the location, on the edge of the city center and not within the history and action or the city or the crowds near La Ramblas. The advantage is the club lounge, the pools, spa, and gym, etc. plus the beach, the two Michelin-starred restaurant, and the classy bar.
