This auction is for a stunning and unique silver Legacy Collection Honour Pendant created by Charmaine Taylor worth RRP ZAR1,500 / GBP£80 / USD$105 and the chance to own a piece of history from Robben Island Prison. Charmaine Taylor creates jewellery and art from the original fence from Robben Island Prison, which once held captive Nelson Mandela, Ahmed Katherada and many more political prisoners during the apartheid years. The rusted metal from the fence is very symbolic of each political prisoner’s journey and how the past walls have been broken down and freedom has now been achieved. Although Charmaine never got to meet Nelson Mandela, she keeps his memory alive by creating jewellery and art through the Legacy Collection which is handmade in Cape Town South Africa. This unique and beautiful piece is called the Honour Pendant and reflects high respect and esteem. It has been created with a silver base and raw Robben Island top piece. Each item receives a unique serial number engraved into it, a certificate of authenticity and a handmade box.
