Your Mobile Camping Safari highlights will include visits to Gaborone, the Khutse Game Reserve, Xaka and Central Kalahari Game Reserve.
Itinerary:
Day 1 – Gaborone arrivals
On arrival the winner will be picked from Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone (Capital City of Botswana) and taken to the hotel where they will relax and spend the night.
Day 2 – Gaborone City Tour
City tour visiting the parliament, three chiefs’ monuments, the museum and Bahurutshe Cultural village for traditional cuisine and dance.
Day 3 and 4 – Khutse Game Reserve: Molose pan
Khutse Game Reserve is situated in an extra ordinary part of the Kalahari and spectacularly different to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Khutse Game Reserve is part of an ancient river that once flowed north-eastwards to fill Lake Makgadikgadi. The only relics of this river system are the dry river valley and a series of pans. Today, the game viewing area is centred on these pans. The name Khutse means “place where you can kneel down to drink”. The winner will leave for Khutse Game Reserve to Molose Pan Campsite; they will spend two nights.
Activities at Khutse Game Reserve include: game drives (morning and afternoon) and a camp fire and traditional story telling by our professional guide.
Day 5 – Xaka
Today the winner will explore Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The team will depart early morning after breakfast heading to Xaka in the Central Kalahari north of the Khutse, where they will spend a night. On the way you will pass the Bushmen settlements of Gugamma. This trip will act as a game drive and there will be a camp fire in the evening and storytelling.
Day 6 & 7 – Central Kalahari Game Reserve: Deception Valley
This is a place at the heart of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Botswana that has confused travellers for centuries. Deception Valley is the course of an ancient river that once flowed in the wetter times, thousands of years ago. The river may have been a tributary of the vast ancient lake that once covered much of the central plateau, or may have been part of the lake at one time, but now it’s a place of waving grass where herds of springbok and gemsbok gather. The Valley gets its name from a pan in the area that has been the source of confusion for travellers. 2 nights will be spent here with game drives to different camping sites like Letiahau, Lekhubu, Sunday pan and Passarge Pan.
Day 8 Gaborone – Rest and spend the night.
Day 9 End of Tour – Depart Gaborone.
