Enjoy a 7 night stay for up to 16 guests at the 8 bedroom Forest House in which lies in the traditional village of Mitcheldean on the fringes of the Forest of Dean. Stay includes: welcome gift of wine and flowers, logs and barbecue fuel etc. as well as all bed linens and beds made up on arrival. Stay is valued at approximately £2,300 GBP*. Please note the winner will be required to separately pay a £100 fee to cover change over costs as well as for all additional purchases including meals, drinks, excursions etc..

Auction stay dates: to be booked in advance and taken between 01 January to 31 December 2019, excluding stays over Christmas, New Year, Easter and all other bank holidays, subject to availability.

Forest House is a traditional country house situated within Mitcheldean, a traditional village on the fringes of the Forest of Dean, a historical and cultural region in the western part of the county of Gloucestershire. It’s ideally located to explore the wonders of the Wye Valley and this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property also lies within easy reach of Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds.

There’s so much to do in terms of activities including: cycle trails and down hill courses, abseiling and caving at Symonds Yat rock, canoeing and a high wire rope course. Also within easy access is The Secret Forest, a beautiful woodland, now reclaimed by nature and Clearwell Caves, a great underground experience with nine caverns to explore. In wetter weather there’s also plenty to do from museums to caves and even riding a steam train through the forest.

When you arrive, you will drive through the gates and into the walled gardens of this country home. The spacious Forest House has been beautifully restored and is filled with original features. Step into the reception hall and take in the ornate staircase, tiled floors and views out to the garden. From the reception hall you will find your way into the traditional kitchen warmed by an AGA. A large solid wooden table takes centre stage and is the perfect place for friends to relax and enjoy catching up. The kitchen is well equipped and in addition to the gas AGA, it has a microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is a utility room off the kitchen with washing machine. Step further into the reception hall and you will find the lounge, with high ceilings, stripped wooden floors, inviting wood burner (first basket of logs included) and TV/DVD. The large sash windows offer views onto the gardens. Across the hall you will find the dining room with a large dining table and sash windows with views of the gardens. There is also a further second lounge on the ground floor with a baby grand piano for those that fancy a sing along. When the celebrations are over climb the ornate staircase to the first floor where you will find five bedrooms, one double with ensuite bathroom with bath and WC, three further doubles and one twin bedroom. There is a bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC, and a further separate WC. Climb the stairs to the second floor where you will find two further double bedrooms and a further cosy double bedroom with views over Plump Hill, there is a shower room with shower and WC.

Open the doors and take the steps down into the walled gardens, where you will find a table and chairs set within the lawn along with a gas BBQ.

Included in your stay are: bed linen and towels, off-road parking for 5 cars, wifi, 3 cots and 3 high chairs, plus there is a gas BBQ available too.

Winners must pay for their auction item in full via PayPal within 48 hours of the auction end, otherwise Luxury Travel Diary Ltd. reserves the right to offer the auction item to the next highest bidder with immediate effect.
