Gal Oya National Park remains peacefully, untouched by the hand of man. It’s one of Sri Lanka’s hidden gems, yet to be explored. Distinct from other Sri Lankan protected areas, Gal Oya encompasses the country’s largest inland body of water, the Senanayake Samudraya Lake, along with over 25,000 hectares of lush evergreen forest and open savannahs. The lake’s surface is peppered with islands, a reminder of the earth rising from the depths and its diverse wildlife is best seen on a boat safari, especially the iconic swimming elephants!

Gal Oya Lodge itself lies in this ancient land untouched by time; a true haven of serenity where you can immerse yourself in nature, soak up local culture and reconnect with loved ones. This truly unique ecolodge spreads across 20 acres of private jungle, where guests can enjoy this natural paradise through the experiences on offer, which include walking with their Vedda neighbours, one of the last remaining communities of the forest-dwelling, indigenous people of Sri Lanka.

Gal Oya Lodge facilities include a restaurant, bar and swimming pool, all seamlessly integrated into the scenic landscape. The friendly locally-recruited staff are keen to share stories and the hospitality of the region.

The cuisine and locally sourced food is a special highlight of Lodge life. Lovingly prepared, the day’s menu will include a choice of Sri Lankan and Western items, featuring home grown herbs and vegetables, and produce from neighbouring village farmers.

The winner and their guest will be staying in a spacious 800 sq. ft Bungalow Bedroom, designed using sustainable and local materials wherever possible to keep in harmony with nature. Each Bungalow Bedroom lies nestled in the forest and grasslands and has been specially sited to take advantage of the spectacular views. Amenities include: king sized bed, alfresco bathroom, private living area with floor to ceiling windows, and garden veranda.

This auction item excludes flights and transport – you will need to arrange your own flights / transportation to and from your home to Gal Oya Lodge, on the border of Gal Oya National Park, Sri Lanka to coincide with your booking. Your stay is subject to availability, must be booked before 10 December 2019 and taken before 31 December 2020, excluding stays between 01 January to 29 February 2020, and 01 July to 31 August 2020. Please note all additional purchases including further drinks, activities and excursions etc. must be paid for by the winner separately.
