Enjoy a 2 night stay for 2 guests in a Village Room at Amanfayun in Hangzhou, China. Stay includes daily breakfast for two. Stay is valued at approximately 11,500 RMB / £1,270 GBP / $1,635 USD*. Amanfayun lies hidden in a valley to the west of West Lake, surrounded by natural beauty and history in equal measure. The resort lies just a 20-minute drive from the center of Hangzhou, the “City of Heaven”, and a 50-minute drive from Hangzhou Airport. The short drive from the center of Hangzhou takes you along densely wooded bamboo and tree-lined avenues, past botanical gardens, and the inner waterways of West Lake, to the temples and village of Tianzhu.

This blissfully secluded retreat was purposefully designed to resemble a serene Chinese village and is within walking distance of seven significant Buddhist temples and a Buddhist Academy. No two of the 46 guestrooms, suites, and villas tucked within the scenic tea fields and forestland are identical. Many are located in original structures dating back 100 years; yet they feature the most modern amenities, including heated floors, air conditioning, and internet connectivity. All furniture is freestanding and includes daybeds, sofas, dining suites, and floor and desk lamps. Fine calligraphy art pieces decorate the walls and a sound system with iPod option is available in all rooms. Televisions are available on request. Most accommodation units open on to private or semi-private courtyards with informal outdoor dining and lounging areas.

Amanfayun’s Aman Spa lies surrounded by bamboo groves, tea bushes, and Magnolia trees. The Spa offers five treatment rooms, a reflexology room, a movement studio, a room dedicated to tai chi, yoga, and meditation, and a Finishing Salon. Massage and body treatments draw from traditional Chinese massage and reflexology, as well as from ancient Asian healing therapies. The Finishing Salon provides hair spa treatments too.

Amanfayun also features a fitness center, pool, sauna, bicycle rental, library with an extensive array of books and DVDs focusing on the history and culture of China, organized informative talks and presentations, a meeting room with two terraces and the latest audio/visual equipment, a boutique, the Village Eatery for more casual dining, complimentary parking and broadband internet access throughout.

In terms of dining, the restaurant is tucked away behind a grove of evergreens and offers picturesque views. This is the only outlet which serves Western cuisine. The menu features a number of classic international dishes, in essence offering guests comfort food. The Restaurant also houses the Bar which is suitable for informal dining. Traditional tea in the Tea House is also a must.

The winner and their guest will be staying in a 66 sqm. Village Room with courtyard or forest views. Most open to private or semi-private courtyards with an informal outdoor dining and lounging area. Room amenities include king-size bed, daybed, writing desk, fine calligraphy artwork, wifi, TV, sound system, safe, air conditioning, coffee and tea facilities, under-floor heating and a bathroom with twin vanities, separate shower, and toilet.

Please note, the outdoor swimming pool is closed in the winter season, the exact closing date base on weather condition.
