The Westin London City has one of the best executive club lounges in London, and the hotel also offers chic, contemporary guest rooms and an excellent wellness center with spa and fitness center and a central London location near to St Paul’s Cathedral and London Bridge.
How To Access The Club Lounge At The Westin London City
Access to the club lounge is for Marriott Bonvoy® Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite, and Ambassador Elite Members, as well as guests booking a St Paul’s Duplex, Executive, or Presidential Suite.
Location
The Westin London City club lounge can be found tucked away from the other communal areas on the hotel’s fourth floor, just along from the main reception area. The Westin London City Hotel is located just steps from St Paul’s Cathedral in the heart of the city of London. Mansion House Tube Station is also steps away, even nearer than St Pauls Cathedral.
London Bridge and the Tower of London can both be easily reached on foot, as can the popular Sky Garden, which offers spectacular city views. The Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe both lie directly opposite the hotel on the South Bank of the River Thames. London Waterloo is the nearest large mainline railway station, and the nearest airport is London City Airport, which is 11 km from the hotel.
Style & Character
Accessed by your room key, the lounge feels private and exclusive, with a calm, relaxing vibe. The décor is contemporary and chic, with a calming and luxurious mix of natural colors and fabrics.
The lounge is long with a variety of seating areas separated by open bookcases acting as room dividers with objects d’art and books. Half the room has thick neutral carpets, and the other half has a polished wood floor, again creating a feeling of different spaces and zones.
There is a television up one end at one end of the room with comfortable lounge seating and places to stretch out and relax with your morning coffee. This end of the room also has a fireplace that would be super cozy on a chilly winter’s day.
There’s a central zone with café style tables that would work nicely for tucking into breakfast or evening canapes. The other end of the room has long serving tables where food and drink are offered. The café area is near this buffet zone, too, so it’s super convenient when your plate needs a refill.
There are also plenty of power points, and many of the tables are intimate. This would be perfect as a quiet space from which to work. There’s high-speed internet access available in the lounge, too.
The lounge is located on the bridge across Upper Thames Street, putting it in an excellent position for urban London views, with floor-to-ceiling windows maximizing the light and looking just as fabulous with the lights of London by night as well.
Food & Drink
Breakfast is served each morning, a slightly reduced offering from the main hotel restaurant Mosaic, but still more than enough to fill you up and give you a strong start to the day. I found I could easily put together a full English, which was much appreciated and isn’t always the case with a club lounge, which often offers more of a continental breakfast. The hotel’s emphasis is on wellness, which is reflected in the food options.
Throughout the day, a variety of snacks and soft drinks are available. We tucked into a wealth of fresh fruit, and my children were very taken by the choice of sweets and crisps.
In the evening, the food offering is especially generous. Several vats of steaming delicious meals were served, including rice, a Moroccan tagine, curries, and salads. We particularly enjoyed the range of fresh breads and a very varied cheese selection, which was perfect for an after-dinner treat. It’s a lovely buffet-style offering, too, and we all had different things and little bits and pieces.
There were also plenty of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beers, a choice of wines, and spirits. A very popular addition here is the recent ability to offer several beers on tap, too! This is really unusual for club lounges, and what a perfectly British move to ensure you get the perfect pint!
Conclusion
This is a great Marriott Westin club lounge in an excellent central London location. The lounge has a stylish, spacious setting and is a fabulous space for quiet contemplation. The food and drink offerings, especially in the evening, is very good, and while the views are from the fourth floor, the urban vibe the view provides feels very London, which will appeal to local and foreign visitors alike.
