Book A Hotel

Suffolk is the perfect location for a blissful British countryside retreat; conveniently located (just 90 minutes from central London!), with quaint villages, idyllic countryside, a delightful coastline and lots of traditional pubs. You’ll want to stay somewhere stunning to match your location, so how about Cressland, a beautiful, a 15th Century Grade II listed cottage.

Location

The cottage has an enviable location, as well as that short journey time from central London, you are just 80 minutes from Stansted Airport and yet are located in the heart of ‘Constable Country’: Suffolk’s wild, open countryside. This is the perfect place to come to get away from it all and soak up the British countryside with loved ones. The cottage lies in Kersey, one of the most photographed, and picturesque villages in Suffolk and is right next to the famous centuries-old water `Splash’ in the heart of the village, hence the cottage’s name!

Style & Character

Cressland has been sympathetically and tastefully restored to an exceptionally high standard with obvious real love and affection, as a result it has been awarded five-star Gold by VisitEngland. The cottage manages to be both full of original features and character, whilst at the same time being truly luxurious and contemporary where needed; the facilities for example. There are exposed floorboards, original fireplaces and huge spacious rooms.

Service & Facilities

Inside the cottage it’s deceptively spacious; the large living room has a welcoming open fire, there’s a dining area with a huge table perfect for hosting family parties and a large kitchen. Outside a real treat awaits; a beautiful cottage garden, a summer house, and plenty of space to lie back on a deck chair or dine al fresco when weather permits. There’s also parking for 2 cars. Your welcome is a lovely one; a generous welcome basket, homemade cake, a bottle of wine, lots of fresh flowers and a barrel of logs for the open fire and stove to make sure you are cosy. Plus, your hosts will happily greet you and show you around personally. That way you can pick their brains for any local tips too!

Rooms

There are four bedrooms; 2 with king size beds, 1 twin and 1 single. Luxury bed linens and towels are provided and there’s lots of other thoughtful extras too, like a hairdryer in every bedroom, robes and slippers and toiletries from The White Company. There are also three bathrooms so no fight to get to the shower in the mornings! Fascinating fact: the village itself is somewhat of a movie star and has been the location for many TV shows and films; the bedrooms are named after some of the most famous: Lovejoy, Meerkat, Hallows and Witchfinder General!

Food & Drink

The welcome basket is quite exceptional and gives you everything you need to rustle up a hearty breakfast and a delicious afternoon tea: bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee, homemade cake, biscuits, wine, eggs and bacon! On chillier days, you can make use of the fully equipped country kitchen and cook with the family, or if the sun is shining, there’s a BBQ and lots of room to dine outdoors, or if you’re really in holiday mode and just want someone else to do all the work, the nearest pub is just a short stroll away!
