Rooms
The room concept brings a Parisian-sensitive and modern Oriental approach to the design ethos of the new rooms. Inspiration was drawn from the local Hong Kong architecture and culture, with a focus on “Framing the View,” pointing to the diverse and animated landscape seen from the hotel guestrooms. The enhancement project had earnt Auer the prestigious Le FRENCH DESIGN 100 award in 2022. Famed for his global projects, Auer’s previous projects include the Cotton House, Mustique, Hotel de Crillon, Paris, and Orient Express, Bangkok.
The Horizon Harbour and Peak View Rooms on Level 50 to Level 52 evoke the ambiance of a luxury residence; a custom-built entrance stand greets guests upon entering with a welcoming bud vase and umbrella stand, providing an immediate sense of warmth and intimacy. A hallway lined with Verde Fiume marble in the Peak View Rooms and Latte Onyx in the Harbour View Rooms lead guests through to the spacious rooms.
Reflecting the outside scenery, Horizon Harbour View rooms are accented with hues of warm grey and duck egg blue, while panels featuring depictions of the local landscape reflect the alternate view of the Peak. Poised overlooking Victoria Harbour, made-to-measure upholstered day beds extend along the length of the Harbour View rooms, providing guests with a harmonious living area and the flexibility to accommodate families or additional guests in the room. A versatile desk table can be used for both dining and working from, with an upholstered swing-arm pendant light above providing ample light.
Bathrooms are finished with hand-tiled walls in the separate bath and rain shower partition, enriching the light and airy design with a vanity mirror, adjustable lighting, and a clock for guests’ convenience. A window into the bathroom from the bedroom floods the room with natural light, with a switch to frost the glass for privacy.
Horizon Peak View rooms are adorned with hues of green to reflect the tropical and lush views of Victoria Peak, while the leather-topped writing desk and chair complement verdant upholstered sofas overlooking the unobstructed view. Generously spaced bathrooms complete the new rooms with a separate washroom, expansive shower cubicle, and vanity mirror.
Bathroom amenities from John Masters Organics have been selected for the new Horizon rooms. Created using the finest natural and organic ingredients, the full-size bottles are available for guests to use throughout their stay or purchase and are in line with the Shangri- La Group’s focus on sustainability.
With technology at the forefront of modern-day travel, wireless charges are installed in each bedside table for convenience. In suites and Horizon Harbour View rooms, sound bars allow guests to play music via Bluetooth, with speakers installed in each area of the guestroom.
The refreshed Grand Premier City View and Peak View rooms on Level 39 and Level 40 are designed to complement the newly revamped Library and Atrium event spaces on the same level. Perfect for business travelers, the optimized rooms combine modern office necessities with the comfort of a luxury home.
The design palette of these rooms is calming and soothing, with subtle hints of colors and textures echoing the design of the Atrium. These rooms offer a contemporary living space with multi-functional features and a murphy bed that can be concealed vertically to transform the room into a spacious meeting area. The smart technology program enables guests to adjust the lighting and temperature from rest to meeting mode with just a fingertip.
