Review: Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort, Halkidiki

Book A Stay

The exclusive, 5-star Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort lies in Halkidiki in northern Greece, which is known for its jutting peninsulas and Mediterranean forests that give way to white sandy beaches and sheltered bays. It is a slice of paradise that looks out upon the spectacular, azure Aegean sea. This world-class destination for fans of fitness and well-being is surrounded by outrageously pretty hills of fragrant green pines, a palm fringed beach, and vistas are framed by that deep blue sea.

Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort can be found near the village of Paliouri on the western coastline of Halkidiki. The area is known for its olive oil, pine forests, and wonderful beaches. The nearest airport is Thessaloniki International Airport. The transfer takes around an hour and a half.

Style & Character

The resort combines the alluring natural beauty of Halkidiki with the dazzle of innovative modern architecture to create a world-class destination. It has been built like an amphitheater across 13.6 hectares of secluded land, with its own stretch of Blue Flag beach and amazing views across the Aegean Sea to mystical Mount Athos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the distance.

This luxury beach resort has two halves: Miraggio and Miraggio Club. Miraggio offers a wonderful stay in spacious and comfortable Deluxe Rooms, while guests appreciating true luxury, full privacy, and high-class service should look into Miraggio Club, the most private part of the resort offering exclusive benefits and stunning rooms, some with private pools and all with uninterrupted sea views. Check-in is in the grand foyer, which is a vast, palatial hall with shiny marble floors and windows that open up to azure-blue ocean views. The resort is beautifully spaced out on levels, gradually rising up the gentle hillside, embracing the main pools, bay, private beach, and superyachts of Marina Miraggio.

Palm trees are dotted around on vivid green lawns, giving the grounds a lush feel. Beautiful seating areas, pieces of unique artwork, tall vases, and fresh flowers complete the feeling of understated extravagance.

Service & Facilities

The three outdoor seawater pool areas (which are heated in low season) include a small kid’s pool and an adult-only pool. The main pool is vast, with a bridge leading to an island. It is almost regal in design. Perfect palm trees grow out of small flower beds on islands in the pool and between the loungers around the pool. They give natural shade along with the artificial but equally stylish white parasols that protect the loungers from the heat of the day.

The beach is similarly kitted out with plenty of loungers and parasols. Beyond the pool and beach is the horizon, a blue line of the Aegean sea capped with the hazy hilltops of a distant peninsula.

Beyond the pools, the beach, and the general relaxation, you can get down to some hard-core rejuvenation at the 3,000m2 Myrthia Thermal Spa. This is a haven of wellness that takes advantage of Halkidiki’s natural thermal springs. Myrthia Thermal Spa’s power derives directly from the earth. Myrthia Thermal Spa spring, known as Kanistro Water, and officially recognized as a Thermal Natural Resource by the National Committee on Natural Thermal Resources Protection. This state-of-the-art spa facility includes a large thalassotherapy pool directly linked to the Aegean Sea with water that is heated and maintained at a stable temperature. There’s also a smaller thalasso pool that doubles as an infinity pool and a hydrotherapy area with three natural hot water pools, a rest area and the Myrthia Health Bar. The Thermal Well-Life suite also boasts a steam room, dry Finnish & herbal sauna, Tepidarium, walking cold plunge to improve circulation and two experience showers with warm and cold water. There is also a Fitness Center with state of the art cardiovascular and modular resistance machines for body health improvement and stamina. If further beautification and retail therapy is required, guests can avail of the hair and beauty salon and shopping area too.

A lot of thought has also been put into the whole family’s holiday at Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort. When children get fed up with their parents or vice versa, there are four indoor and outdoor clubs designed for different age groups. Even babies (4 months+) are cared for here with Pan’s Creche.

Guests can take part in daily activities, including water sports (motorized and non-motorized), yoga and pilates, hiking, aqua bike, aqua zumba, table tennis, cross training, latin fusion, and more besides! More active guests can try chartering a yacht from Miraggio’s Marina for a scuba diving adventure, or if you prefer to stay on land, there is archery, football, tennis, beach volleyball, dance, boules, and Zumba in the resort, or you can borrow a mountain bike and cycle off into those fragrant pine forests.

If you seek further entertaining, there is live music every night at the Lobby Terrace, cruises and excursions available to book and an open Amphitheatre for special events and festivals.
