Delta Air Lines introduced an all-suite Business Class product in 2017. This Delta One Business Suite is available on its new Airbus A350, and in this review, I look at what you get in the suite.

Delta Air Lines is the first airline to offer an all-suite Business Class product. The suite is a smaller and less luxurious (but more affordable) version of the popular Etihad A380 First apartments. This private suite design undoubtedly copies the concept of the suites that originated in First Class.

The Delta Air Lines Business Class cabin features 32 seats split across eight rows. Due to its spacious 1-2-1 configuration, each seat will offer direct access to the aisles.

Each Delta One (Business Class) features a sliding door that delivers total privacy and transforms the space into a fully enclosed suite. The new suite will also include storage compartments for shoes, headphones, and laptops, a universal power outlet and USB port, and an 18-inch in-flight entertainment monitor. For sleeping, the seat becomes a flatbed, which will be covered in a memory foam mattress and the airline’s signature Westin Heavenly bedding.

Passengers traveling on Delta One can expect meals with wine pairings by American sommelier Andrea Robinson; noise-canceling headphones, TUMI amenity kits featuring Kiehl’s Since 1851 skincare products; and pajamas on select flights. Delta will primarily use the A350 on flights between the US and Asia, progressively retrofitting its B777 fleet with the new product.

US airline Jetblue is the only other carrier to offer sliding doors in Mint (their Business Class), but this feature is only available in select seats.

I immediately thought that these new First and Business Class Suites are the buzz trend in airline seat planning. Whether this design will be defunct in 10 years’ time is anyone’s guess. My personal opinion is that flights are very boring except when there is terrifying turbulence. I get some joy from minor interactions with other passengers, seeing who is sleeping, what people are eating, and just generally watching passengers and airline staff milling around during a flight.

I prefer not to be boxed into my own little world. Having said that, due to the low nature of your walls, you will still experience some cabin disturbance that I enjoy.

The Big Three US carriers, American, Delta, and United, have all unveiled new Business Class products. American features its Business Class seat on the A350, and United offers its “Polaris” Business Class experience. Up to now, these US carriers, however, fell short of offering the best Business Class product worldwide.
