Book A Stay

The colonial boutique hotel, Posada Las Trampas, is located in Honda in the Tolima region of Colombia, an area rich in culture and history. This luxury hotel sits in one of the most beautifully restored colonial houses in Colombia with a fascinating history as the original building dates from the sixteenth century. It was restored to open its doors as a hotel for the first time in 2010.

Location

Posada las Trampas is located in the area’s most important historic city, dating back to the 1500s. During Honda’s “golden age,” the Magdalena River was the only means of transportation between the Caribbean coast and the inland city of Bogotá. This prime location along the river made Honda a main river port of the country. Imported goods and articles arrived in Bogotá through the port of Honda.

Style & Character

Posada Las Trampas is set in a refurbished and well-restored house that dates from 1780. This house has many atmospheres, from the most modern rooms with Wi-Fi to the most remote rooms full of history where time seems to have stopped. Rooms feature home-branded amenities, air conditioner, fan, balconies, room service, large TV, and an inside eating table for two. The best-selling room is number 14 (not a suite), with an amazing view of the whole town and the two rivers.

Rooms

It has 14 luxury rooms with room service, Wi-Fi, a pool, spa, restaurant, 24-hour front desk, and a beautiful bar where you can get a taste of Colombia’s history and culture.

Service & Facilities

The whole hotel offers a beautiful view of Honda from its aged windows and beyond to the mountains and bridges over the Magdalena River. Spend the day beside the pool where you can absorb these same views, take lunch under the umbrellas on the most beautiful terrace, and look out onto the busy Magdalena River bridges in the evening.

The historical city of Honda was once Colombia`s capital of imported goods. All the vapor boats arrived there with products from all around the world. Museums, the Magdalena river, and the Guarino River across the city are all interesting activities to do and explore in Honda.

You can also visit Armero (the town covered by a volcano), go horseback riding, and trekking. The Waterpark AGUA SOL ALEGRIA (owned by the same family as the hotel), with eight slides and seven pools, including a wave pool open on weekends and high season, is another great way to spend the day and guests to the luxury boutique hotel Posada Las Trampas are given free entrance to the waterpark.

Horseback riding is a must when you visit this region. With more than 10,000 acres to ride, trail rides can go from 3 hours to multiple days, depending on your interest. Hacienda El Triunfo will take you on this experience with their ten horses specifically trained to be ridden by first-timers, but there are many more horses for experienced riders. Posada las Trampas will arrange these trips and transportation from the hotel if you want to try being a cowboy.
