Which are the best luxury hotels in Spain’s capital, Madrid? The best hotels in Madrid include Four Seasons, Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Aloft Madrid Gran Vía, Hotel Círculo Gran Vía, InterContinental Madrid, Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center, Palacio de los Duques, Palacio Del Retiro, Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra, The Westin Palace and Villa Magna.

Some of these hotels are also the best airport hotels in Madrid. Interestingly, many of the best hotels are part of the Marriott hotel brand, although the Four Seasons is the very best. There is no Ritz-Carlton or Park Hyatt hotel in Madrid. However, there is a Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid and the Hyatt Regency Hesperia Madrid, which features in our review of the best executive club lounges in Madrid.

Madrid is Spain’s central capital and is a city of elegant boulevards and manicured parks such as the Buen Retiro. It’s the place to come for European art, including the Prado Museum’s works by Goya, Velázquez, and other Spanish masters.

1. Four Seasons Hotel Madrid

Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, which we have reviewed, is our favorite hotel in Madrid. Four Seasons Hotel Madrid is the first Four Seasons hotel in Spain. After a seven-year reconceptualization and meticulous restoration of a collection of seven historic buildings, the new Four Seasons Hotel Madrid can be seen in the image above. It’s spectacular!

With a soaring grand lobby welcoming guests at its heart, Four Seasons Hotel Madrid is located within Centro Canalejas, also home to 22 Four Seasons Private Residences and the Galería Canalejas luxury shopping mall.

Architect Estudio Lamela led the restoration, preserving more than 3,700 artifacts throughout. Inside, the interiors are by an international team of designers, including BAMO, BG Architecture, Martin Brudnizki, AvroKO, and Luis Bustamante.

In an ever-changing city but always welcoming, visitors will discover something new with every return visit. Four Seasons is just steps from Kilómetro Cero, the central point from which all distances in Spain are measured.

Of course, there is no Four Seasons rewards program, but if you are a regular guest of the Four Seasons or even want to try this iconic brand for the first time, you can take advantage of loyalty style benefits at Four Seasons hotels for no extra cost by booking your next stay via our luxury travel concierge.

In this truly pedestrian-friendly city, most of the main points of interest are within a 20-minute walk, including the 125 hectares (300 acres) Retiro Park. It’s an incredible Glass Palace and endless pathways amid trees, fountains, and ponds. Three of the world’s best museums, the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, form a Golden Triangle in the neighborhood around Four Seasons.

At Four Seasons, Spanish celebrity Chef Dani Garcia unveils Dani, a new dining concept from the three Michelin-starred chef, with an unmatched rooftop setting envisioned by acclaimed London and New York-based designer Martin Brudnizki. This bright and vivid brasserie offers a sophisticated touch, where locals and international guests can come together to savor Andalusian cuisine and panoramic views throughout the day and evening, both indoors and out in the sunshine on the terrace.

A gastro bar will continue to move forward with the tapas trend that began in Spain, adding modern Asian flavors paired with cutting-edge cocktails in a space created by global design studio AvroKO.

Adjacent to the Hotel’s bustling lobby, an open area bar and lounge will be the ideal place to meet, drink, and relax during a busy day of work or play in the city.

Four Seasons Hotel Madrid guests may choose from 200 rooms and suites, among them an exceptional triangular Royal Suite with double-height ceilings and numerous historical details.

Hotel guests and locals will find a four-level spa retreat capped by a sky-lit indoor pool and sun terrace looking out across Madrid’s rooftops. The spa is the largest in the city, offering eight treatment rooms plus a salon and 24/7 fitness center.

2. Palacio de los Duques, a Gran Meliá Hotel

Palacio de los Duques, a Gran Meliá Hotel is located in the artistic and cultural heart of Madrid, a short walk from some of the most important monuments in the city, such as the Royal Palace, the Teatro Real and the Almudena Cathedral.

Behind its magnificent façade, the Palacio de Los Duques, a Gran Meliá Hotel, combines vintage splendor with a delicate contemporary sensibility. This fascinating palace is located on the site of what was the most important convent in Europe in the 13th century, the Convent of Santo Domingo. The hotel cleverly maintains the character and elegance of the original structure. The residence of the Dukes of Granada de Ega also has a beautiful and historically important garden.

3. Villa Magna

Villa Magna is ideally located in the heart of Madrid. The Salamanca District is acclaimed for shopping, trendy restaurants, and world-renowned museums. It is where one retreats from the bustle of the capital and relaxes in the terraces or patios.

All rooms are elegantly renovated and designed for guests who are looking for ultimate quality. The Lounge Restaurant and Magnum Bar are perfect for business lunches and dinners, as well as evening cocktails. Villa Magna brings a unique wellness philosophy dedicated to the art of beauty and well-being. The SPA combines the best of western and eastern wellness traditions in a perfect blend of osteopathy and aromatherapy.

4. The Westin Palace

We reviewed the Westin Palace which is one of the best Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Madrid and has no club lounge. This hotel should be picked for location, location, location. It also Oozes historical significance and is a brilliant Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Madrid.

This hotel was originally commissioned by King Alfonso XIII in 1912. This iconic hotel, now The Westin Palace, Madrid, is located on the renowned Art Walk. This area links the city’s most enriching museums, El Prado, Reina Sofía, and Thyssen-Bornemisza. It is very close to the most important monuments and some of the best tapas restaurants in town. If you want a Marriott in the center of town, this is it!

Topped by a breathtaking stained-glass cupola, La Rotonda Restaurant offers delicious locally sourced market cuisine and serves meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lovers of Asian cuisine will highly appreciate dining at the Asia Gallery and the Green T Sushi bar. Any culinary experience will be enhanced with a delicious cocktail at the 1912 Museo Bar.

The 470 guest rooms and suites are fully equipped to meet the needs of today’s travelers, including the plush Heavenly® Beds and the refreshing Heavenly® Bath. The state-of-the-art meeting rooms all together add up to 2,400 m2 and comprise the largest events facilities in Madrid. While there is no club lounge at this hotel, it is definitely one of your best hotel choices in Madrid.

5. Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center

Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center is one of the Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Madrid and it also has an executive club lounge. It is a superbly snazzy hotel, super stylish, and the lounge is gorgeous. The only letdown is the location, but the hotel does provide a number of shuttles to get around, plus there is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel.

This is not in a great location. The Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center is located between the International Airport and the city center. It is ideal for events, conventions, exhibitions, and fairs and also offers an impressive Auditorium for up to 2.000 seats.

This hotel is big! With 869 rooms, a wide variety of restaurant spaces, as well as the new concept in Madrid Buffet, an exclusive Executive Lounge for Marriott Bonvoy Members, an important Fitness Center area, as well a free shuttle service every 30 minutes to the Airport, you will not be left wanting.

The executive lounge is open seven days a week and offers soft drinks, tea, coffee, water and cheese, bread, and crackers with toppings, which are available throughout the day, as there is no special happy hour with hot or extra light bites. The same food remains out all day, except in the evening, beer and wine are offered so that you can enjoy cheeses like brie with wine!

By contrast, the breakfast here is excellent, with a cold buffet and an omelet station.

The look is super stylish, much snazzier looking than the InterContinental lounge with brown as the theme, natural brown slate walls, wooden floor, and some of the floor has a classy brown carpet, and the seating looks stylish too. There are sofa seats as well as stools and high tables.

6. Hotel Círculo Gran Vía, Autograph Collection

Hotel Círculo Gran Vía, Autograph Collection is one of the few Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Madrid and has no club lounge. It also is adults-only, and is one of the best Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Madrid. It may not suit all of our readers, particularly those with families. Hence it’s positioned at number 6.

This Rewards Category 7 hotel will reward you with rooms and corridors that showcase the history of Madrid. Occupying the former home of The Circle of Trade and Industrial Unions of Madrid, this historic building was inaugurated in 1924 and recently renovated to become an Adults Only Hotel in the heart of the city.

Because of its excellent location, Hotel Círculo Gran Vía offers great accommodation for discovering the city’s main attractions, such as Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, and the Royal Palace. The main airport, Adolfo Suárez, is located only 17 km away.

Offering 71 fully equipped rooms that combine tradition and design to ensure your utmost comfort, as well as a fitness room, meeting rooms, and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

7. Palacio Del Retiro, Autograph Collection

Palacio Del Retiro, Autograph Collection is one of the few Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Madrid and has no club lounge.

This hotel was a palatial home built at the beginning of the 20th century and has been converted into a discreet 50-room luxury boutique hotel. The unique building has been protected by National Heritage status.

Located in front of the famous Retiro Park and close to the Paseo de Recoletos. It occupies the center of the magical Art Triangle, Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, and Reina Sofía National Art Museum.

Ideally located in the center of the cultural, financial, and business area, it also offers a full-service business center and five meeting rooms of different sizes equipped with an internet Wi-Fi system.

8. InterContinental Madrid

InterContinental Madrid has the best executive club lounge in Madrid but we still prefer the Four Seasons as our best hotel choice in Spain. The problem with the InterContinental Madrid is that it is situated on the Paseo de la Castellana at the northern side of the Salamanca fashion district.

This means it is not an easy walk into the city center, and you would be wise to hop on the tube at the nearby Rubén Darío metro station. Some argue that this is an exciting area with the 24-hour, outdoor Museo de Arte Público, with works by 20th-century Spanish sculptors displayed underneath a rather depressing concrete flyover. We think that this location, away from the main pedestrianized center, is far from ideal for a leisure trip to Madrid.

The hotel is a very nice 5 star which was the palace of the Dukedom of Aliaga. Original red marble pillars, chandeliers, and white marble floors are classy and regal if slightly dated. The whole place feels slightly old-fashioned, although obviously luxurious.

The rooms are large and mix mustard and brown, and the bathrooms have black marble and are very nice, as you would expect.

El Jardín is a wonderful restaurant with an al-fresco feel and French windows overlooking the central garden.

Like the rest of the hotel, this InterContinental club lounge is not very stylish, with classic, classy decor that lacks the modern touch. There are lots of orangy-colored woods and blue and mustard carpets, and it is open from 7:00 am – 11:00 pm.

The lounge includes a private breakfast in the lounge. This is usually very good at InterContinental hotels, with a very good buffet and a la carte hot dishes. You can read about the breakfast we experienced in the club lounge at the InterContinental London. Beyond breakfast, there are snacks and drinks throughout the day, and in the evening, there is a large buffet with appetizers, snacks, and drinks.

Also included in this club lounge is Wi-Fi throughout your stay, an ironing service (I’m not clear if this is free), and a 10% discount at restaurant el jardín & brunch.

InterContinental club lounges are excellent, and even though I am not a fan of the location of this hotel, this is definitely the best executive club lounge in Madrid.

9. Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid

Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Madrid takes you back to the 19th century. A stay here is a stay at the former residence of the influential character of Madrid’s society at the time, the Duke of Santo Mauro, located in the aristocratic and exclusive area of Chamberí. With a French influence design, similar to the Parisian palaces of the era, the Hotel Santo Mauro consists of three buildings surrounded by a magnificent garden starring a few centuries-old chestnut trees, making it an oasis in the heart of Madrid.

The 49 rooms are carefully designed and will make your stay in the palace an unforgettable one. Avant-garde décor complements the common rooms that the Duke of Santo Mauro once walked through; The Red Room with pure French style, The Chinese Lounge, where oriental pieces dazzle. The Gin Bar with an art deco and the former Library of The Duke of Santo Mauro, today’s main restaurant. This is one of the few Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Madrid and has no club lounge.

10. Aloft Madrid Gran Vía

One of the cheapest Marriott Bonvou hotels in Madrid is the Rewards Category 4 Aloft Madrid Gran Vía. This hotel is located in the buzzing area of the city’s Gran Vía. An area that embraces the upbeat vibe of Madrid.

The 139 urban-inspired guestrooms come with mighty nine-foot ceilings, plush platform beds, and trademark Aloft extras like the 49-inch Chromecast TV, walk-in rainfall shower, and Bliss® Spa amenities.

On the top floor, with a rooftop vantage and a seasonal Splash Pool, the WXYZ® Bar, where the fun flows as local drafts and signature drinks are served against the beat of cool music and must-see events.

Re:Fuel by AloftSM is an astute dining concept where fresh, fast, and flavorsome dishes are available on a serve-self buffet basis 24/7. Re:ChargeSM fitness center is open around the clock for guests who need to pump it up or stretch it out. This hotel has a casual, urban vibe and great views across Madrid’s skyline.
