Book A Hotel

What are the top 10 best luxury hotels in Cambodia? We have already reviewed the best executive club lounges in Phnom Penh Cambodia and the best airline lounges at the airport (PNH) in Phnom Penh. We have also reviewed the best executive club lounges in Siem Reap and the best airport lounges in Siem Reap REP Cambodia, separately. Now we review the very best luxury hotels in Cambodia.

If you want to stay in luxury in Siem Reap or Phnom Penh in Cambodia, if budget allows, you should consider staying at one of the best luxury hotels. These include Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh, which is near Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH), Park Hyatt Siem Reap, Bensley Collection Shinta Mani Siem Reap, Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, Belmond La Résidence d’Angkor, and Amansara.

Visitors come here to see the temples in Siem Reap, of course, but there is plenty to do in and around the city when you’re templed out. Siem Reap has reinvented itself as the epicenter of chic Cambodia, with everything from backpacker party pads to hip hotels, world-class wining and dining across a range of cuisines, sumptuous spas, great shopping, local tours to suit both foodies and adventurers, and a creative cultural scene that includes Cambodia’s leading contemporary circus.

You definitely want to visit Siem Reap and Angkor in the dry season between late November and early April. The nicest months weather-wise are December and January, when there’s the least rainfall and temperatures are slightly cooler. Of course, these also bring the most visitors, and the temples can be packed, so going very slightly out of peak season can be a good thing.

1. Shinta Mani Angkor & Bensley Collection Pool Villas

For an ultra-luxurious sanctuary in stunning Siem Reap, better known perhaps as the gateway to the magnificent temples of Angkor, book a stay in a stunning private pool villa at the incredible Shinta Mani Angkor & Bensley Collection Pool Villas. This is probably the best luxury hotel in Cambodia.

Their chic villas are located in a tranquil and leafy setting by the river in the French Quarter of the cultural heart of Siem Reap, near enough to the action for ease but just quiet enough to allow total peace and serenity. You are just 15 minutes from the cultural highlight – the temples of Angkor.

The villas are the latest offering in the Shinta Mani family, created by acclaimed designer Bill Bensley. The ten two-level villas are hidden under the ancient canopy of Siem Reap’s palace trees. Each walled compound offers you total privacy in your lush tropical garden with your own 9-meter swimming pool. It almost goes without saying, but this place is special. Aesthetically, it’s simply stunning. Monochromatic tiles, vast murals, handcrafted lighting fixtures, a floor-to-ceiling glassed bathroom, a freestanding bathtub in the garden, and then there’s the rooftop. The beautiful roof terrace includes a huge day bed; sunbathe by day in true comfort, enjoy a seemingly personal display at sunset, and sleep under the Khmer stars by night. Unforgettable.

Possibly the most notable part of the service is quite simply that you have your own personal, traditionally trained butler. Sit back and let them spoil you; they have that enviable quality of being there instantly when you need something but being discretely invisible the rest of the time. Don’t think it is impersonal, though. They are warm and always greet and leave you with a smile. Ask them to arrange your transfers, organize local trips and tours, arrange restaurant bookings, or simply prepare a rose-filled bath for a special occasion. Nothing is too much trouble, and they’re keen to meet your every whim.

Your villa offers 156 m². of luxury space across two pavilions with a roof terrace and views over the gardens. Your private oasis enjoys a romantic outdoor bathtub and a rain shower as well as a living room, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, custom-made furniture, handcrafted light fittings, and artwork bringing Khmer lore to life. The bed is outstanding; Bill Bensley designed what he feels are the fluffiest, most comfortable beds imaginable. Custom-tailored Khmer-inspired bed sheets, a plethora of feather or pillows, and bedside golden bamboo towers are everything you need for a divine night’s sleep.

As well as your own facilities, you can enjoy complete access to all the facilities of the nearby sister hotel, Shinta Mani Angkor. Most notable, perhaps, being the luxe Shinta Mani Spa, where you can indulge in a variety of spa treatments, including house-made Khmer Tonics, which can be taken on the rooftop terrace or in the privacy and sanctuary of your own villa. Yoga and meditation can also be arranged.

Your butler comes into his own whenever you are feeling peckish. Let him know what you fancy, and the house kitchen can tailor-make a delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between. Dine poolside or on your rooftop, or just have breakfast in bed.

If you fancy dining out, Shinta Mani Angkor & Bensley Collection Pool Villas offers many eateries; enjoy all-day dining at Baitong with an excellent selection of international comfort foods as well as delicious Khmer street food which can be enjoyed indoors or outside in the cool green space whilst enjoying handcrafted cocktails or a crisp bottle of Rosé from the Baitong Pool Bar.

Try exquisite Khmer cuisine at Kroya, Shinta Mani Angkor’s unique restaurant inspired by Shinta Mani’s heritage, serving blends of local products, fresh ingredients, native herbs, and spices to create innovative, palette pleasing flavors with modern inspiration.

Refresh and relax at one of the Pool Bars with a signature Icy Green Ginger cocktail or thirst-quenching fruit smoothie, alongside light snacks served throughout the day.

Finally, Bensley’s Bar, named to honor legendary designer, architect & philanthropist Bill Bensley, features over 30 gins from all corners of the globe with thoughtful tonic pairings as well as the very best spirits and high-quality mixers with typically generous pours – perfect to complement a day of adventures in Angkor, sharing stories and making plans for more.

The resort is also proud of its culture of ‘Open Doors, Open Hearts’. This culture underlines their commitment to responsible tourism, and they are passionate supporters of those less fortunate in their community.

3>2. Shinta Mani Angkor

Shinta Mani Angkor is centrally located in the leafy French Quarter of Angkor, between The Royal Gardens and the Old Market Area of Siem Reap, just 15 minutes from Angkor Wat. You really couldn’t pick a better spot.

The style of the resort is rather fabulous. The boutique resort is a relaxing garden oasis with a striking courtyard design. Inside, a chic treat awaits; there is a retro feel with some fabulous features, including a mirrored feature wall, a custom-designed iron bed, and handcrafted light fittings.

There are 66 elegant and contemporary rooms, including four suites. If you’re on the ground floor, you have direct access to that swimming pool in the Poolside Garden Rooms, and if you’re on the first floor, you have your own intimate balcony with heavenly views over the pool in the Poolview Rooms; you really can’t go wrong. The retro and spacious Junior Suites have an even better pool view, being located on the second floor. Upgrade to an Executive Suite for a separate living area and balcony views of the urban streetscape. All the rooms feature artwork exclusively created for Shinta Mani by Bensley Design Studios, Bangkok, which adds a stylish and personal touch to your experience.

Mealtimes are truly celebrated here. There are five restaurants and bars, so many choices, including international comfort food and colorful Khmer street food! All the establishments use only the freshest local, imported, and organic ingredients, prepared at their prime, to satisfy even the most avid gourmet. You can also enjoy poolside refreshments, take a cookery class, or just enjoy a cocktail and tapas at the hip bar, which overlooks the inner courtyard.

There is a stunning outdoor saltwater swimming pool that is surrounded by flourishing tropical gardens. When you return from a hot day exploring, relax those aching bones at the Shinta Mani Spa, a sanctuary of serenity and a haven of refuge where your body has its well-being and health restored, all ready for another day out tomorrow!

The service is first-class. You can tell by how immaculate the entire resort is and how beautifully maintained it is that the staff have a real feeling of pride in the resort. They welcome you with open arms and are efficient and courteous throughout.

Just like its sister property, the hotel is proud of its culture of ‘Open Doors, Open Hearts”. This culture underlines their commitment to responsible tourism, and they are passionate about supporting those less fortunate in their community.

3. Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh

Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh is a luxury hotel located in the heart of the vibrant capital city of Cambodia. The hotel offers luxurious accommodations, fine dining, and leisure activities for a truly memorable stay. With its convenient location, the hotel provides easy access to some of the city’s popular attractions, such as the Royal Palace, the National Museum, and the bustling riverside area. Guests can enjoy a variety of amenities, including a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, and a full-service spa. The hotel also offers a variety of dining options, with several bars and restaurants serving up international and local delicacies.

The Regency Club (exclusively for Club Room and Suite guests only) is located on the 10th floor with indoor seating and an outdoor terrace with dynamic views across the city. It offers a complimentary continental and buffet breakfast, evening canapés, and beverages, and it is a great place to relax with loved ones and friends.

In terms of dining, Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh presents a remarkable culinary journey with five distinctive bars and restaurants showcasing a wide variety of local and international cuisine and bespoke yet stylish cocktails – all in a vibrant atmosphere. The FiveFive Rooftop Restaurant & Bar enjoys the city’s most unrivaled views of the Royal Palace and Mekong River. Metropole Underground is an early 20th-century metro-themed bar offering live music and local beers, while The Attic is an old-world speakeasy-style bar tucked away in the eaves of the Colonial House and specializes in handcrafted cocktails and grand cru wines.

4. Park Hyatt Siem Reap

Ideal for World of Hyatt loyalty point collectors, Park Hyatt Siem Reap is a wonderful hotel that one of our reporters visited a few years ago. It was so good that they kept returning! This is their story about their stay in one of the best luxury hotels in Cambodia.

If you want to get to know this crazy, hurly-burly town with a big smile but have a quiet, luxurious hotel to retreat to, you couldn’t do better than the Park Hyatt. Slap bang in the middle of town, within walking distance from everything, including the famous (infamous?) Pub Street, but hidden within plain white walls concealing a haven of tranquility and elegance. There is even a bakery shop, open to the public, selling French-style bread with a sing-song musical crust.

The smallest room is 35 m² and beautifully furnished in a modern take on Khmer style. All rooms are very well appointed with Nespresso machines, effective aircon, marble bathrooms, Wi-Fi, a large TV, and everything else that spells luxury. View rooms have a view of the courtyard and are quieter than the outward-facing rooms. Suites range from the 71 m² Park Suite King to the Presidential Suite. Our favorite, though, is the Park Executive Suite – there are only four, and one of them has two bedrooms. Each has its own courtyard and private plunge pool, which is exactly what you need when you have survived the humidity at the temples.

There is just one restaurant for the 104 guest rooms, but it is a very good one, and a three-course dinner can be as little as $25 USD per person. There are always special offers on wine (including Champagne), and dinner is accompanied by a very tasteful display of traditional Khmer dance and music three times per week. The lounge is a beautiful and cool place for cocktails or meetings, and the hotel shop displays some truly fantastic Khmer artworks to admire or purchase. They support a local art charity too.

5. Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra

The Sofitel is one of the Phnom Penh’s leading luxury hotels, combining French colonial style with excellent service, good rooms, two large swimming pools, one with a poolside bar to cool down, a sports club, restaurants, and a beautiful garden.

The hotel is located about 2 km south of the Royal Palace, very close to the Russian embassy. The hotel’s main foyer is huge, with the bar on the left side and the check-in & concierge desks at the back. Rooms are generously sized and very comfortable with a bed and a living room area with a sofa and an armchair, flat screen TV, etc.

The Club Millésime at hotel Sofitel Phnom Penh is one of the best hotel club lounges at hotels in Phnom Penh and is exclusively offered to Club and Suite guests.

The lounge offers a luxury setting with additional five-star services. Be spoiled for choice with a large collection of tea & coffee, gastronomical delights, and free-flow sparkling wine. All are included for free in this lounge. The lounge itself has a very chic atmosphere, and the free breakfast is very good, with a buffet and hot breakfast items to order. There is tea and coffee with cakes in the afternoon and cocktails, wines, and snacks during the evening happy hour. All are excellent, and the food is fresh.

6. Raffles Hotel Le Royal Phnom Penh

While Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra has a club lounge, when comparing this Sofitel vs. Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh, Raffles is best for luxury.

Raffles Hotel Le Royal has been Phnom Penh’s premier luxury address since opening in 1929. A restoration project has returned the hotel to its original colonial grandeur, with five luxurious restaurants and bars on-site.

Besides serving the Jacqueline Kennedy menu, Restaurant Le Royal offers Royal Khmer cuisine with menus crafted by the Royal Palace. The Elephant Bar has welcomed many legendary visitors; its signature Femme Fatale cocktail was created to mark Jacqueline Kennedy’s 1967 visit to Cambodia. Set in lush tropical gardens, two swimming pools provide a welcome respite after a day spent exploring this vibrant city.

Book a Landmark Rooms or Suite, Personality Suites, and the Le Royal Suite, which are in the original 1929 building and have 14-foot ceilings and original clawfoot baths.

7. Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort

Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort is set among tranquil landscaped gardens on the tree-lined Charles de Gaulle Avenue. It is just a 10-minutes drive to Angkor Wat.

Rooms enjoy a blend of French and Khmer design and decor, and the hotel has a wide variety of dining options, including French and international cuisines. The outdoor pool with a swim-up bar is an ideal place for relaxing, and there is an indulgent spa center with a hot tub and massage treatments for relaxing. The hotel also has an 18-hole Country Golf Club.

Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort has a newly opened Club Millésime, which adds to the luxury experience if you stay at this luxury hotel. This is definitely one of the best hotel club lounges in Siem Reap. It offers superb cuisine and an extensive list of wines, cocktails, and beers from around the world to inspire you as you overlook the peaceful Sala Lake and its colorful water lilies.

Enjoy a Champagne Breakfast or a tea break. This Club Millésime lounge is open throughout the day. In the evening, as you come back from your visits, the Apéro Chic cocktail hour features a luxurious selection of finger sandwiches, cold cuts, and imported cheeses, all included for free when you book a room with lounge access. It is the perfect way to relax after a tiring day at the Temples.

To get Club Millésime access, you need to book a suite or buy Club Millésime access.

8. Borei Angkor

The Privilege Floor, which is the club lounge floor at Borei Angkor, offers a true 5-star hotel experience, as does its club lounge. This hotel also offers a lovely large pool with a pop group that performs poolside in the evenings. Take a tuk-tuk from Borei Angkor into town, which takes five minutes to downtown Siem Reap and 20 minutes to the temples.

The Privilege Floor has 19 spacious rooms and suites with hardwood floors, wooden furniture, large bathrooms, butler service, and good-sized balconies with views across the hotel grounds and the city.

The Damnak Restaurant and Lounge is reserved exclusively for Privilege Floor guests. Breakfast is a buffet with cereals, cold cuts, eggs, and fresh fruit, plus à la carte food. Within the lounge, you can also enjoy excellent evening Western and Cambodian platters (of chicken, fish, and beef). The veranda of this exclusive lounge is a wonderful place for a drink overlooking Siem Reap as the sun goes down.

Book The Privilege Floor at Borei Angkor on either the Bed and Breakfast package or the Full Package, which comes with a private “any time of the day” car service, two hours of unlimited cocktails, a complimentary minibar, and free laundry.

9. Memoire D’Angkor Boutique Hotel

Memoire D’Angkor Boutique Hotel is stunning inside and out. Located in Siem Reap in northwestern Cambodia, near to the world heritage UNESCO site of Angkor Wat, the hotel’s position, quite literally, couldn’t be better.

This is one of those hotels that manages to be both contemporary and achingly stylish yet at the same time maintains a distinctly Cambodian appeal, so you never forget where you’re staying.

The beautiful boutique hotel is ultra-modern with a stunning state-of-the-art concept; everywhere you look, there is art, and the hotel very much celebrates and respects this. The colors are bold and fabulous, with traditional Cambodian motifs, designer furnishings, dark hardwood floors, and a Zen style to the relaxing guest rooms.

When you return to your hotel after a hectic day exploring Siem Reap or marveling at the sights of Angkor, it’s almost guaranteed you’ll be hot, aching, and smiling! Where better to head then than to the gorgeous clearwater swimming pool, cool off a while, and then sit back on the relaxed patio swings and let the day memories envelop you? For a real wellness experience, the Memoria Spa is simply beautiful, and they’ll really take care of those aching bones here. Or if you need even more of a workout, there’s a spacious gymnasium that overlooks the pool. For a fun activity at the hotel, you can learn to create a local dish at a cookery class; there’s nothing better than cooking up an authentic masterpiece when you’re back at home to take you straight back to your travels.

The wonderful art concept continues in the guest rooms, keenly felt in each of the 48 rooms and suites, carefully decorated with Cambodian art pieces from Master Artist “Theam”, whose artwork is drawn on the philosophical symbolic, and conceptual foundation of traditional Cambodia. Choose from Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites, Artistry Memoire Suites, or the Artistry Family Suite. Sitting on the swing seat in the shade of the cloistered courtyard sipping my mojito at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap, I gaze at the most perfect Banyan tree which is the centerpiece of this elegant oasis of sophistication amid the hustle and bustle of downtown Siem Reap. Small birds hop to and fro, pecking for ants around the pool. A small woman in a dark green uniform and broad-brimmed hat slowly sweeps away the few fallen leaves from last night. I've been here since breakfast, and it's now just afternoon. The atmosphere is perfect, and I don't want this moment to end.
