It’s worth picking a hotel with an executive club lounge so that you can benefit from all the free food and drink offered up in the lounge, as well as the luxurious rooms, setting, and service offered by these wonderful hotels.
If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum or Titanium elite member, you will get free club lounge access at most Marriott and Sheraton hotels, with the exception of some JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels. If you are a World of Hyatt Globalist member, you will get free access to their executive club lounges at Grand Hyatts and Hyatt Regency hotels. Everyone has to pay an extra fee or book a club room to access the Club InterContinental lounge at InterContinental hotels, whatever your loyalty membership level.
When choosing areas to stay in Mexico City, the two main areas where you will find all the luxury hotels are Polanco and Reforma. The JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City, InterContinental, Hyatt, and W, along with Habita and Los Alcobas hotels, are all located in Polanca, within a couple of blocks of each other. This is a wealthy but perhaps dull neighborhood that feels safe but doesn’t offer as much the soul of Mexico City as other areas.
There are loads of high-end shops and restaurants in Polanco, and the Museo Soumaya is one of the most stunning pieces of architecture in Mexico City, but getting to and from Polanco can take a long time in the Mexico City traffic. As there’s no subway, expect to endure queues.
It’s also worth considering the Sofitel, Marriott, and Hilton in the area of Reforma as alternative hotels, as these are in a more vibrant area that is more interesting for walking and seeing historic sites.
The best hotels with club lounges in Mexico City are listed below:
1. Sofitel Mexico City Reforma
Sofitel Mexico City Reforma is located in the heart of Mexico City’s historic Reforma Avenue, Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, and offers a chic French style mixed with the vibrant and lively Mexican culture. It is just steps away from iconic monuments such as the Angel of Independence and the Castle of Chapultepec and is one of the best luxury hotels in Mexico City with one of the best club lounges.
At the base of the hotel sits a restored house originally built in 1983; the historic structure was incorporated into the modern design of the 40-story building in order to preserve the city’s architecture and history, resulting in a dramatic and striking exterior built upon both contemporary and classic architecture and design styles.
Sofitel Mexico City Reforma is within walking distance of the city’s thriving business district. Leisure guests, those looking for a tranquil escape from the bustling streets of Mexico City, we will delight in the serene atmosphere of Sofitel’s lavishly appointed spa with L´Occitane, followed by enjoying a fun time at our luxurious 38th-floor pool and finishing with an evening in one of the 3 bars and two restaurants. 2. Presidente Intercontinental Polanco
Presidente Intercontinental Polanco is an extraordinary, ultra-luxury hotel in one of the largest metropolises of the world. We think it has one of the best club lounges in Mexico City.
This hotel is located in the heart of Polanco, the best area of the capital, known for hosting international corporations, diplomatic headquarters, great gastronomic offers, museums, and the most exclusive shops in its famous Avenida Presidente Masaryk.
Presidente InterContinental® is one of the icons of Mexico City for being the first international hotel, with 42 floors, 700 rooms, six specialty restaurants, a Mixology Bar, and more than 1,800 m2 of rooms for all kinds of meetings and events.
The lounge itself is lovely with dark wood ceilings, brown and cream furnishings, and with a buffet and magazines to one side and seating to the other, where the windows are. This club lounge is noteworthy for its extraordinary views, which you can enjoy through large windows.
In fact, the prime seats are the restaurant-style seats which are sat right by the window so you can gaze across Mexico City whilst enjoying your complimentary food and drink. These seats and tables are actually set against the window, looking outwards, so the vistas can be easily enjoyed over your morning cereal or as you tap away on your laptop.
There are also some more comfortable, lower set, sofa-style seats for relaxing, which again offer the fantastic vista across Mexico City.
This is an extra-cost lounge. Whatever your loyalty status, you won’t get access to this lounge without paying for a Club Room. The lounge includes private check-in, with a complimentary welcome drink, buffet breakfast, with eggs cooked your way, afternoon tea, with freshly made sweet and savory delights, and evening drinks & canapés.
You can see what we have experienced in terms of food and drink at the club lounge at InterContinental O2 in London and the club lounge at InterContinental Park Lane which will give you an idea of what to expect. This InterContinental club lounge will undoubtedly be one of the best, with a substantial hot and cold buffet and a la carte breakfast and evening canapes and alcoholic drinks.
3. Hilton Reforma
Unusually, in Mexico City, most guests report the Hilton Reforma to be a far superior property when compared to the JW Marriott or the Marriott Reforma. It is not in Polanco. It is instead located in a more vibrant area which is more interesting for walking.
This 458-room hotel has a 25-meter rooftop pool, spa, fitness center, three restaurants, and art from acclaimed Mexican artists throughout. The lobby of this Hilton is also appealing, and the fitness center is a great plus, there is a lap pool with astounding views of the city.
The executive lounge is spacious, with sweeping views of the sprawling city. Breakfast and happy hour are both good with a nice spread of food. In fact, the breakfast is of similar quality (if slightly less choice) as the breakfast in the main restaurant.
4. JW Marriott Mexico City
The JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City, InterContinental, Hyatt, and W along with Habita, and Los Alcobas hotels are all within a couple of blocks of each other in the area of Polanco.
JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City is a Rewards Category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotel, and as we have outlined above, it is nestled in the heart of the Polanco District. From here, you have easy access to Chapultepec Castle on Chapultepec Hill, the National Auditorium, Teotihuacan, and Xochimilco-Floating Gardens.
The rooms here are stylish with a traditional look, overstuffed armchairs, and high–end mattresses. The view of the park and skyline is nice, but be aware that the traffic noise is quite bad as the windows aren’t double-glazed.
In terms of dining, you can fuel up with a delicious Mexican or French dish from their on-site restaurants, Xanat Bistro & Terraza and Brasserie Lipp. There’s an outdoor pool and a rather small health club with cardio equipment and free weights.
The executive lounge is small with dated decor, and it can get crowded, so this not one of the best club lounges in Mexico City. It offers breakfast and dinner buffets which are mainly cold, similar to a domestic US hotel club lounge. This lounge is what you might expect from your average Marriott rather than a JW Marriott. Not great. Reports suggest that the wine is free in this executive lounge with the evening cocktails, but beer is not free.
The hot dishes for the evening offering in the club lounge are usually limited to one chicken and one potato or rice dish, not really filling enough for a main meal, but on the bright side, there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance.
5. Marriott Reforma
The Marriott Reforma is not as good as the Hilton Reforma outlined above. Both have club lounges, but at the Marriott Reforma, a portion of the rooms face a wall of another building.
This executive club lounge is nice and comes with its own outdoor patio at the top of the hotel building (this club lounge takes up the whole 16th floor), but the drink offering lacks any free alcohol in the evening, so you have to pay hotel prices for your booze. The food is OK but not great, with two basic hot dishes at breakfast (eggs and bacon etc.) and a cold buffet. In the evening, the food is enough to fill you up (just) and Mexican-themed.
The hotel is, overall, a little dated, so the Hilton is the better choice in the area, and if you are looking for the best Marriott in Mexico City with a club lounge, you would do better picking the JW. It is worth noting that this hotel is near the Zona Rosa, which is known to be a high-crime area, so take care if you choose this hotel as your base.
There are other good Marriott hotels in Mexico City, including St. Regis, Le Meridien, w and Las Alcobas, a Luxury Collection, but none of these hotels offer an executive club lounge or concierge floor.
6. Hyatt Regency Mexico City
Hyatt Regency Mexico City is located in the trendy Polanco neighborhood, the perfect spot in which to explore the authentic art, shops, restaurants, and nightlife just steps away from the National Auditorium, the award-winning Anthropology Museum and one of the biggest urban parks in the world – Bosque de Chapultepec. The 755 luxurious rooms at this Hyatt property have marble baths, and suites overlook Chapultepec Park and Lincoln Park.
Regency Club perks include private check-in and check-out, plus food and beverages all day at Regency Club Lounge. This lounge has just been renovated. It offers great views from the 40th floor, but we have not heard any reviews of the new version of this lounge. Usually, you can expect a fairly decent breakfast and evening light bites (which are usually enough for a full meal). Bear in mind, from my experience with Hyatt club lounges. The evening food often results in a scrum of people taking advantage of the free food. Expect the buffet to be super busy at these times to the point where it may become unpleasant.
Beyond the club lounge, restaurant offerings include the Teppan Grill with cooking demos tableside and El Jardin’s famous Sunday brunch.
7. Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel
Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel is located on the famed Reforma Avenue, in the Zona Rosa district, steps from exceptional shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Stroll down the avenue to revel in the beauty of the Angel of Independence before walking further until you reach the Bosque de Chapultepec’s lush greenery. Or head in the other direction toward the Spanish colonial facades of the Historic Center, home to the National Palace, Palacio de Bellas Artes, and Metropolitan Cathedral.
Within the hotel, there are a variety of restaurants, a lobby bar, a heated outdoor pool, and a fitness center with an adjoining sauna. When relaxation calls, slip back to your stylish room or suite, offering cityscape views and Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience beds. The bathroom is small but nice and well-lit, and stocked with the standard Bliss Sheraton toiletries.
Club floors are higher up, and there are great views from the higher rooms. We recommend requesting a room facing the Angel.
The Executive Lounge is on the 18th floor and is large with a sweeping view. They serve an excellent breakfast with smoked salmon, cold cuts, cheese, fresh fruit, hot eggs, sausage, bacon, and assorted juices. There is free coffee and juice and soft drinks throughout the day. In the evening, they serve hot and cold canapes along with one complimentary beer, wine, or cocktail per person.
8. Presidente InterContinental Santa Fe
The second InterContinental in Mexico City is the Presidente InterContinental Santa Fe. This luxury Santa Fe hotel embodies its locale with warm, modern décor and a hint of Mexican flair. With incomparable city views and a location in the booming business district, this hotel is better for business than leisure. It is ideally located for an expo at Santa Fe Convention Center. Amenities include a Spa and one of the best places to eat at The Palm Restaurant.
This 27-story tower that is Santa Fe’s tallest building offers sweeping views of the Valley of Mexico and can be found close to Latin America’s largest shopping center (Centro Comercial Santa Fe). The disadvantage, which you will see on Google Maps, is that this InterContinentnal is far from the center of Mexico City, with no subway line taking you into town.
The club lounge here is stylish and modern and one of the best in Mexico City, but the location of the hotel is bad for leisure travelers who want to explore Mexico City itself, which is why this club lounge doesn’t come higher in our listing. The Club lounge is located on the 30th floor of the hotel, where guests of Club rooms can enjoy complimentary exclusive services such as internet stations, continental breakfast, as well as canapés and drinks in the afternoon in addition to having access to a reception and a private Concierge.
9. Westin Santa Fe
Westin Santa Fe is about 300m from Sheraton Santa Fe and it has a really nice club lounge. The Westin Club Lounge is designed to enhance productivity with complimentary wireless high-speed internet access, free snacks and soft drinks throughout the day, breakfast service, and afternoon hors d’oeuvres and wine.
While the location of this club lounge is terrible for exploring Mexico City, it is an ideal hotel for the flourishing Santa Fe business district, and the club lounge has a gorgeous decked outdoor terrace, so while we cannot list this club lounge as the top in Mexico City, due to its location in the suburbs, this is one of the nicest, modern, club lounges in Santa Fe.
