Marine Dynamics Shark Tours is a shark cage diving company in South Africa that is truly making a difference through research, conservation, and education, and protecting the animals and environment on which it relies for a living.

Every trip includes an onboard marine biologist educating clients on the iconic great white shark. African Responsible Tourism Award winner Marine Dynamics is Fair Trade Tourism certified with Blue Flag certified vessels and provides logistical and financial support to the owner-established Dyer Island Conservation Trust.

Dyer Island Cruises operates whale and wildlife watching tours around the world-famous Dyer Island. On these tours you might be fortunate enough to see the Marine Big 5, including Southern Right, Humpback, Bryde’s Whales, sharks around the renowned Shark Alley, Cape Fur Seals, the endangered African Penguin, and various visiting dolphin species. The area is also home to a variety of seabirds.

These tours get fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor with guests raving about the whales, sharks, dolphins, and other marine wildlife that they have seen. The staff on these trips are consistently excellent. In fact, these trips have been described as an “utterly spectacular experience with an excellent company.”

Location

Marine Dynamics is based in Kleinbaai, a small harbor town, part of Gansbaai in the Western Cape of South Africa. You can enjoy these experiences on a day trip from Cape Town. The drive is long from Cape Town but very doable.

This area is known as a hotspot for the Great White Shark and the best place in the world to see and dive with these iconic creatures in their natural environment.

Marine conservation

Marine conservation has historically been grossly neglected and this vacuum in the scientific arena necessitates new, exciting, and ongoing research projects to find out more about precious marine species and the ecosystems in which they live.

This is exactly what Marine Dynamics does. Every trip on either the shark cage diving or whale watching boat is an awesome adventure and an exciting crash course in marine biology, educating you about the trends, traits, and troubles of the endangered Great White Shark and other amazing marine species, as well as the ecosystem!

Marine Dynamics

Marine Dynamics takes you on captivating trips at sea to meet and dive with the Great White Sharks. This is just one of many things they do to protect, conserve and enjoy the unique marine wildlife in the Gansbaai area.

Marine Dynamics enjoys sightings of great whites, copper sharks (bronze whalers), and even the occasional stingray from their vessel. They say they offer the best cage diving as they have the only luxury custom-designed purposeful boat for shark cage diving. They are also the only company to guarantee a marine biologist on every trip. They also guarantee a clean dry wetsuit on every trip and are a registered conservation trust.

Dyer Island Cruises

Sister company Dyer Island Cruises is a boat-based Eco-Marine Tourism Company, allowing visitors an unforgettable experience to see the Marine Big Five; whales, dolphins, seals, penguins, and sharks, as well as many species of rare pelagic birds that reside close to the shore.

The Southern Right Season is normally from June to December, but for the rest of the year, you can occasionally see Humpback and Bryde’s whales in the area. The tour has an onboard biologist and experienced crew who promise an educational, life-changing experience.

From January to May all morning trips include coffee/tea and muffins on arrival and a light lunch after the trip. Guests doing an afternoon trip can enjoy a light lunch on arrival followed by warm soup and bread after the trip. During Southern Right season coffee/tea and muffins are served upon arrival followed by warm soup and bread afterward.

All trips include a dedicated safety and conservation briefing before departure and a debrief afterwards. The company provides safety jackets and wet weather gear.

After a short walk to the harbor, guests board the custom-designed vessel, Dream Catcher and the adventure commences. All operations run from The Great White House in Kleinbaai and include a licensed restaurant and bar, curio shop, and clean toilet facilities.

These trips really are a great way to get up-close-and-personal with some of the most impressive sea creatures this area has to offer!
