Book A Hotel

We have reviewed hotels in Guangzhou with the best club or executive lounges to help you decide on the best choice, whether you are traveling as a couple, a family, or a single business traveler. By reviewing each of these club lounges in turn, I conclude which hotel club lounge comes in at the top and which hotel I would select as having the best club lounge in Guangzhou.

Known to centuries of Western traders as Canton, Guangzhou is China’s third-largest city, located 120 kilometers (75 miles) upriver from Hong Kong and 165 kilometers (100 miles) from Macau.

Luxury hotels in Guangzhou, China, include the Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou, Shangri-la Hotel Guangzhou, Dusit Devarana Hot Springs Conghua (no club lounge, just lobby lounge, and kids club), W Guangzhou, Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou, Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou, along with numerous Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott Bonvoy properties.

I have compiled a list below containing the club lounges available across luxury hotels in Guangzhou. I list the lounges in Guangzhou that I consider to be the best of the best. I will be reviewing each of these hotel club lounges in detail so that you know what you will get if you book a room with club lounge access or get upgraded to a club lounge for free because of your loyalty status.

1. Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou

Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou claims the top third of the 103-storey Guangzhou IFC, one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers that opened in 2012. Rising 103 stories above the Pearl River, the new Guangzhou International Finance Center (GZIFC) building’s top 30 floors are one of the best places to experience Guangzhou in the cosseted world of the Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou. The famed Guangzhou Opera House is right next door to the Hotel, with a full calendar of concerts and other performances.

From the ground floor, guests of Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou take dedicated express elevators to the 70th-floor lobby, where a dramatic three-meter (ten-foot) red steel sculpture by Australian artist Matthew Harding appears to float on a sea of watery glass, reflecting the astounding ceiling window 30 floors above. The incredible naturally-lit atrium, surrounded by restaurants and rooms above, is higher than the top of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and New York’s Statue of Liberty.

Throughout the hotel, a carefully curated collection of paintings, prints, and sculptures by contemporary international artists enhance the sleek modern interiors created by HBA/Hirsch Bedner and Associates. Highlights include glass sculptures in Yu Yue Heen restaurant by Australian Clare Belfrage; a wood sculpture in Tian Bar by Richard Hutton of the Netherlands; mixed-media sculptures by the American team of Jeremy Newman and Allison Ciancibelli in Caffe Mondo; paintings by Korean artist Yun Hee Toh in the Executive Club Lounge; nine sculptures by Yang Don Dong throughout the Hotel; and Lee Man Seng’s unique Chinese seal-inspired timber sculptures in Yu Yue Heen.

In 302 guest rooms and 42 suites, guests will find beautifully appointed interiors naturally lit by floor-to-ceiling windows. On the 97th floor, the sumptuous Presidential Suite’s contemporary look is enhanced by original artworks throughout 253 m² (2,725 ft²) of living space, including a central living room and dining area with an adjacent butler’s pantry and bedrooms on either side. Just below on the 96th floor, the Royal Suite’s design is inspired by a traditional Chinese palette, also accented by original artworks.

With six dining and entertainment venues, Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou offers gourmet cuisine, impeccable service, and a see-and-be-seen atmosphere. Crowning Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou on the 100th floor, Catch is a spectacular seafood restaurant with a demonstration kitchen at the heart of the action. Chef Yvan Collet has created a menu of exquisite preparations of the freshest internationally sourced seafood, including Russian caviar, Norwegian salmon, Australian rock oysters, and New England lobster, as well as choice cuts of meat, including the showstopping grain-fed tomahawk beef steak.

Escaping the urban din 69 floors below on the streets of Guangzhou, guests will find a softly lit, gently perfumed retreat, a Heavenly Garden of Flowers at Hua Spa, where they can relax, rejuvenate, and simply be pampered. The experience at Hua Spa is inspired by flowers, Hua in Mandarin, from the light scent of geranium and rose as one enters to the lavish blend of indigenous flowers in signature therapies and treatments.

The 1,070 m² (11,517 ft²) Hua Spa also offers a water-based treatment area with a Vichy-style shower, rhassoul mud chamber, crystal steam room, and laconium in the women’s area, plus herbal steam bath, Swedish and Finnish sauna, and ice fountain in the men’s area.

The adjacent 24-hour Fitness Center is equipped with state-of-the-art gym equipment. A stunning 25-meter (82 foot) horizon-edge lap pool overlooks the city with a windowed poolside relaxation terrace.

The Executive Club Lounge at Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou is also open daily, boasting its own private meeting space, concierge services, daily breakfast, refreshments, and cocktails on the 99th floor.

Uniquely at this Four Seasons hotel, a Couples’ Floor is located on the 93rd floor with a romantic atmosphere with candle lights and red roses petals. The aroma of lavender, refreshing candies, and mellow music will all accompany your journey of romance.

Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou joins Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai; Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong; Four Seasons Hotel Macao, Cotai Strip; Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake; Four Seasons Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, and Four Seasons Hotel Beijing in the company’s growing portfolio, with a dozen additional hotels and resorts currently in advanced stages of development in China.

5. Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou

The Club Level at Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou features 58 guest rooms and suites that combine comprehensive, personalized service with exclusive amenities and unparalleled views. An exclusive lounge is available, and the Concierge staff can make travel arrangements, book theatre and restaurant reservations, and plan local itineraries. Often, the Ritz-Carlton branded hotels offer the best club lounges in the city, but here in Guangzhou, there is such a vast array of ultra-luxury hotels with club lounges that this Riz Carlton comes in fifth, even though it is excellent. To be honest, all the top 5 club lounges in Guangzhou are hard to choose between and only differ in personal style and food choice options. Overall, all five are excellent, and a luxury traveler could happily book into any of these hotels and thoroughly enjoy their respective club lounges.

The non-smoking Club Lounge at Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou focuses on quiet, refined activity. It features five food and beverage presentations daily, personal check-in and check-out service in the Club Lounge, or in the comfort of your room. Business services are also available.

Exclusive benefits in this club lounge also include:

  • Complimentary 1 hour Pressing Service upon arrival
  • Expertly served Tea or Coffee in room any time of the day
  • Exclusive Afternoon Tea in the Club Lounge

  • Drop-off Limousine services within Zhujiang New Town (first-come, first-served, subject to availability)

6. W Guangzhou

Most W hotels, which are part of the Marriott Bonvoy group, don’t usually have a club lounge, but the W Guangzhou is an exception and so far, the only exception. This is also one of the top W hotels’ full stop. The decor in the lobby is dramatic, the views are incredible, the gym is good, and the pool ranks as one of the best hotel pools in the world, with a greenery wall and immaculate upkeep.

The club lounge is equally impressive, with fabulous views from the 26th floor. Breakfast is delivered in the main restaurant rather than the club lounge, with ridiculously good pastries, salad, fruit, cold cuts, smoked salmon, western hot and cold breakfast choices, along with Chinese and Japanese breakfast options.

The club lounge is open throughout the day, and the remainder of the club guest meals are served within this beautiful setting. Throughout the day, there are cookies, chocolates, cans of fizzy drinks, juice, water, coffee, tea, etc. In the evening, the club lounge offers a happy hour with beer, wine, cocktails, and filling snacks. The snacks include at least two hot dishes, which are enough to fill you up, plus sushi, fruit, and canape-style bowls with some additional desserts, plus veggies and cheeses. The staff here go out of their way and remember your seat and what you have chosen previously. You don’t even have to ask. So this lounge is also excellent and is well worth paying for the upgrade, and it sits in our number 6 spot.

7. InterContinental Guangzhou Exhibition Center

8. Sheraton Guangzhou

All-suite guests enjoy full access to Sheraton Club Level, along with premium Marriott Bonvoy members.

The lounge is located on level 33 and features a delicious breakfast selection, pre-dinner drinks, and canapés, as well as complimentary pressing of two clothing items, wireless internet access, and access to the dedicated Executive Club Concierge. You will also receive access to the private Executive Boardroom for one hour each stay (subject to availability). If you are a smoker, this lounge usefully has outside seating where you can smoke.

9. The Westin Guangzhou

Whilst The Westin Guangzhou hotel is not quite as well-positioned as Sheraton that we reviewed above for shopping etc., there remains plenty to do in the vicinity of the Westin with restaurants a short walk away, and you can taxi about for not too much money. It is also close to Guangzhou East train station to catch the trains to/from Hong Kong.

Book an Executive Deluxe Club level guest room at The Westin Guangzhou and you will get club lounge access included in the price of your stay. These sophisticated and beautifully furnished rooms offer a spacious work desk with an ergonomic Herman Miller desk chair. Take in the view through floor-to-ceiling windows or relax with international channels on the 46-inch and above flat-panel television. At the end of the day, experience a restorative rest in your choice of one king-size or two twin Heavenly® Beds, complete with a pillow-top mattress, crisp, soft linens, and a lofty duvet. The opulent marble bathroom features a separate soaking tub and glass-enclosed rainforest shower divided from the bedroom by a sliding glass door, plus upgraded bath amenities.

Executive Deluxe Rooms and Executive Renewal Deluxe Rooms feature access to the Westin Club on the 39th floor, an expansive, upscale space in which guests can gather and meet over daily breakfast and hors d’oeuvres. Executive Club Guests can also take advantage of two hours of use of the Westin Club Meeting Room per stay, pressing of one suit upon arrival and late check-out (subject to availability).

The Westin breakfast provided is fairly basic compared to a full restaurant breakfast buffet in Asia. Choose the Ritz-Carlton or W hotel for better breakfast options under the Marriott Bonvoy brand if you want to earn or redeem Marriott Bonvoy points. That said, the breakfast has both hot food (both Western and Chinese), with made-to-order eggs, as well as cold options. The lounge itself is spacious, and the staff are very good. Happy Hour offers beer, wine, and cocktails, along with filling snacks.

10. Grand Hyatt Guangzhou

If you earn and spend World Of Hyatt points and want to stay in a Hyatt with a club lounge, the Grand Hyatt Guangzhou is the hotel to choose. It is situated next to Huacheng Square in Zhujiang New Town, to the east of the old city center, and 5 minutes walk from the Metro.

The Grand Club lounge can be found on the 20th floor with a view of the Pearl New Town (Club rooms are on floors 18 – 21) and serves breakfast, including made-to-order eggs and evening drinks and canapés.
