There are two international airports in Puerto Rico: Luis Munoz Marin, known as San Juan International Airport (SJU) located on the northeast of the island, and Rafael Hernandez Airport on the west coast. We review the best airline and Priority Pass lounges at San Juan International Airport (SJU).
Terminal A in San Juan Airport is home to boarding gates A1 to A8. It was built in 2012 and is mainly used by JetBlue Airways.
Terminal B in San Juan Airport hosts boarding gates B2 to B11. It was reopened in 2014 and is mainly for departures by United, Delta, Southwest, and Spirit planes.
Terminal C has been renovated recently and it is home to boarding gates from C2 to C10. It shares most of the services and amenities with Terminal B including the Avianca Operated by Global Lounge or the Avianca VIP Lounge. This is a Priority Pass lounge
Terminal D handles various seasonal flights and is home to boarding gates from D1 to D9.

1. Avianca VIP Lounge operated by Global Lounge, Terminal C
The Avianca Lounge in San Juan Airport is located Terminal C, Airside. To get there, go through Security Check Point B, turn left, and towards Terminal C until you see the ‘Global Lounge Network’, then take the elevator to the 3rd Floor (3R). This lounge has two names; Avianca Sala VIP Lounge and “The Lounge” at San Juan at Terminal C.
If you have a Priority Pass you’ll be able to use this lounge and it’s your best and the only choice in Terminal C as there is no Delta Sky Club in San Juan, No American Airlines Admirals Club, nor is there a United Club or a Polaris lounge at San Juan Airport. The lounge is also accessible to passengers with Dinners Club International membership, Avianca Business Class flyers, Star Alliance Gold Members, Air Europa premium passengers, and Iberia premium passengers.
This Priority Pass lounge is smart but small and usually very busy. It has a modern style with wooden floors and stylish white seating. There are mainly cafe seats with some high-table stools as well as more comfy relaxed sofas in the lounge. On the negative side, this lounge lacks many charging plugs and the windows are high up, so you can’t look out of them when sitting down. The food is also very basic, worse than most American domestic lounges.
There is a buffet to one side of the lounge that has an array of free spirits, all low end, plus cheap local beer and wine for free. There are cans of soft drinks in a fridge underneath the counter. At breakfast, this lounge offers a coffee machine, cookies, and cereal with bread, cheese, and cold cuts. Later in the day, there are two hot plates, one with a noodly chicken dish which is fairly decent and filling. The highlight in this lounge is the dessert cakes which are good.
Within the lounge, there’s also a business room with cubicles, a sleeping room, and a kid’s area. While this lounge is better to relax in than being in the main terminal, it’s a pretty awful lounge so don’t plan to get to the airport early to spend time there. It simply isn’t that nice!
2. The Lounge San Juan, Terminal A
The best and only airline lounge in San Juan airport Terminal A is located Airside, turn left and walk through the Duty-Free Shops. The lounge is located on the right-hand side.
This lounge is smart and modern with wooden floors and stylish white seating. It has a similar style to the Avianca Sala VIP Lounge in Terminal C but generally is thought to be not quite as good. The food here is similarly bad with very basic snacks at breakfast, lunch, and in the evening.
