Which Marriott Bonvoy hotel is the best in Zurich, Switzerland? There’s plenty of choice within the Marriott brand including top brands like the Luxury Collection, EDITION, St Regis, W Hotels, and JW Marriott as well as mid-range brands like their Autograph Collection, Renaissance, Sheraton, Le Meridien, Design Hotels and their Westin collections.
Zurich is a gorgeous city. Stroll through the cobblestone streets of Old Town and admire medieval architecture on your way to upscale shopping at Bahnhofstrasse or walk around the borders or even have a swim in Lake Zurich.
Ritz-Carlton hotels are often some of the best Marriott Bonvoy hotels in an area. They also tend to offer the best club lounges. Interestingly, you can get a bunch of free benefits at the Ritz if you book it via our luxury travel concierge if you decide this is the hotel brand for you. While there are some truly gorgeous Ritz-Carlton hotels, there isn’t one in Zurich. There are also no Four Seasons in Zurich either although there is a Four Seasons in Geneva which is one of the best luxury hotels in Geneva.

1. Atlantis by Giardino, Zurich, a Member of Design Hotels™
Atlantis by Giardino, Zurich is the most luxurious Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Zurich is the luxury Atlantis By Giardino which I reviewed on a recent stay. It is pictured above.
This hotel is on the edge of the city and has a resort feel but also a complimentary shuttle into the center, which means you get all the benefits of staying in a resort whilst being moments from all the amenities of Zurich.
The advantages of this hotel are a beautiful outdoor pool, a wonderful indoor lap pool and Jacuzzi and spa, a 2-Michelin star restaurant, plus all the restaurants and bars offer wonderful balconies and views across Zurich.
This 5-star luxury resort is set on the mountainside overlooking Zurich. This resort has a glorious outdoor pool, which is bathed in sunshine all day. In the 1970s this hotel attracted guests like Sophia Loren, Muhammad Ali, Abba, Freddie Mercury, and more recently, the singer Rihanna was spotted by its stunning pool.
The hotel is around a 10-minute drive from the lakeside squares in Zurich town center and a complimentary transfer in the hotel Land Rover is offered throughout the day. It is, therefore, no effort to get into town. There is also a train station within 5 minutes walk away if you prefer to make your own way into the center.
Following a vast and impressive refurbishment, which was completed in December 2015, the new version of the Atlantis hotel is achingly stylish. The hotel foyer had a living room vibe with touches of the outside finding a home inside.
A large double-sided fireplace, surrounded by sofas, sits to one side of the entrance hall; its platinum surface, decorated with imprints of local forest leaves. The reception desk, on the opposite side, is hewed out of local wood, and the curves and gnarls of the wood made it look like a perfect tree base. Carpets are deep pile and the sofas are thick and comfy. Like the rest of the hotel, there had been no expense spared. Even the ceiling is decorated in a leafy, sparkly light installation bringing the feel of the forest inside.
Two grand spiral staircases take you upstairs. Here you will find the bar and two restaurants, along with a cigar room that not only offers an impressive selection of cigars, but the floor blows a gentle breeze up through its tiling to waft away the smoke.
I particularly love the numerous terraces where you could enjoy your meal or drink alfresco. In colder weather, you could either warm up by a fire pit outside or cozy up on one of the numerous comfy seats by the bar or next to the window. From here, watch the spectacle of the sun setting over the sparkling rooftops of Zurich. A magical setting.
The rooms at Atlantis by Giardino Hotel are a triumph to luxury. Once again, no expense had been spared. From the textured wallpapers to the bespoke leather minibar casing and marble bathrooms, the decor is indulgent and the room design is well-thought-out.
The sockets are in useful positions, the TV’s swing out to an unusual angle (yes I did say TV’s – our Lux room had 2 very large widescreen TVs with every channel imaginable). The shower is perfectly designed to keep water in without needing a full screen, the lighting is available in a number of brightness modes depending on your mood.
A complimentary non-alcoholic minibar (with water, various drinks, coffee machine, smoked almonds, sweets, and crisps) is an added bonus to this brilliantly designed room.
Tip: Our room faced the back overlooking the pool and I would choose a room facing in this direction again. The two balconies (equipped with padded loungers of course) were bathed in sunshine throughout the day.
The outdoor pool is slick, with decking to the side, lots of loungers and a poolside bar. The indoor pool is set in the depths of the hotel but has floor to ceiling windows on two sides, looking out at a Japanese style garden with a waterfall cascading down rocks. The stonework and flint work on the walls give it a natural feel and the trendy lap pool (with sparkly tiles) is positioned next to a large Jacuzzi pool for lazing in. This pool is undoubtedly one of the nicest indoor pools I have experienced.
As you would expect from a hotel with a 2 Michelin star restaurant, all the food was excellent. From the room service club sandwich (simply delicious and nothing like your standard room service club) to the food in the Hide and Seek restaurant.
Atlantis by Giardino Hotel is both an excellent base to explore Zurich and is the best Marriott Bonvoy property in Zurich, but it is also a resort in its own right. Whether you want to spend days by the pool, to jog around the hillside park behind the hotel, burn calories in the super indoor lap pool, relax in the spa, or just eat fine foods to the backdrop of Zurich, this hotel really does tick all the boxes.
Worth mentioning, this Marriott Bonvoy category 7 hotel does not offer an executive club lounge.
2. Sheraton Zurich Neues Schloss Hotel
Sheraton Zurich Neues Schloss Hotel is located within the town of Zurich with Lake Zurich just outside the door. This is a rewards category 6 hotel
Rewards Category 6 Points needed per night and offers rather generic Sheraton style hotel rooms on the edge of the town center.
Located in the heart of the financial and business district and only a few steps away from Lake Zurich and the lively city center, the hotel has a cozy if generic atmosphere. Within the hotel, pasta lovers will enjoy the Herbs Pasta & Bar, but there is no executive club lounge at this Marriott Bonvoy hotel.
The Sheraton Zurich Neues Schloss Hotel gets mixed reviews online and comes in at only slightly cheaper than the exceptional Atlantis by Giardino Hotel reviewed above. If you are burning points on your stay in Zurich, I would always choose Atlantis by Giardino Hotel. In my humble opinion, there is no comparison, between the two properties. The luxury Atlantis By Giardino is vastly superior in every way (except perhaps convenience).
Worth mentioning, this Marriott Bonvoy category 6 hotel does not offer an executive club lounge.
3. Zurich Marriott Hotel
Zurich Marriott Hotel is a Rewards Category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Zurich with stunning lake views and nice decor.
It is not in the ideal location is it is at the far side of the main station from the Old Town and town center, but everything remains walkable, so you are fairly central.
Nestled downtown along the banks of the Limmat River, this hotel offers the flavors of Switzerland or savor Thai dishes at their restaurants. Unwind at their New York-inspired bar featuring rare whiskeys and smoker’s lounge with premium cigars before retiring to your room with contemporary decor, pillowtop beds, free high-speed Wi-Fi and flat-panel TVs.
Upgrade to a suite and enjoy more space and access to their M Club executive club Lounge.
4. Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel
Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel is located in the heart of Downtown Zurich West.
Whether you are traveling to Zurich on business or for leisure, the hotel offers good value accommodation with complimentary Internet. The location is some way out of town, up the river in the wrong direction from the Zurich Marriott Hotel, making the Zurich Marriott Hotel a better choice if you are sightseeing.
Spacious hotel rooms and suites are comfortably equipped and offer panoramic views. The Executive club lounge offers complimentary food and beverages and the hotel offers fitness, sauna, and steam bath area.
Enjoy tasty dishes at the EQUINOX Grill Restaurant or sit back and relax in their LUCID Bar & Lounge and savor a cocktail, drink, or snack. The “Upperdeck” is one of the highest and most exclusive event locations in Zurich, located on the 15th floor overlooking Zurich’s skyline.
5. Sheraton Zurich Hotel
Sheraton Zurich Hotel is creating its own young and cosmopolitan neighbourhood with its bar NUOVO or at the Route 26 Steakhouse in Zurich West district. The city center and the central station are only a few minutes away by tram, but this hotel lacks the city center location of the other Sheraton in Zurich.
The tram station Toni-Areal is located directly in front of the hotel to get about and the best cozy rooms and suites have impressive views over Zurich. The kiosk in the lobby gives you the opportunity to buy a wide range of snacks and beverages 24-hours a day.
Worth mentioning, this Marriott Bonvoy category 5 hotel does not offer an executive club lounge.
6. Four Points by Sheraton Sihlcity
Four Points by Sheraton Sihlcity is located between Uetliberg and Lake Zurich. This architectural masterpiece was created in merging historic buildings with the most modern urban character for the rooms.
On the ground floor, their newly opened L’Amant Brasserie & Bar pamper guests with Franco-Asian dishes where above meetings take place above the rooftops in light-flooded rooms. Whether on foot or by bus and tram, from here you can quickly reach Zurich, but this out of town location means that this hotel is fairly inconvenient for a leisure trip to Zurich.
Worth mentioning, this Marriott Bonvoy category 4 hotel does not offer an executive club lounge.
7. Kameha Grand Zurich, Autograph Collection
Kameha Grand Zurich, Autograph Collection is our favourite and the best budget or non-luxury Marriott in Zurich. This Rewards Category 4 hotel is a member of the Autograph Collection, a brand of the world’s largest hotel chain Marriott.
The Kameha Grand is a prime example of the credo of the Autograph Collection Hotels: “Exactly like nothing else”. A lifestyle hotel for discerning business travelers and events with impressive architecture, festive and unpredictable decors, rounded off with numerous Swiss-inspired design elements.
The 245 rooms and suites designed by Marcel Wanders integrate “Swissness” in an impressive manner. The Kameha Grand sets further accents with 11 themed suites that are individually furnished – from a gentleman’s suite with a roulette table to a workout suite with a treadmill and dumbbells.
Seven different sized banqueting rooms set the stage for memorable events. The heart of the hotel is the “Kameha Dome” which already impresses with its sheer size of over 700 sqm, ideal for large scale conferences, galas, and social gatherings.
This Marriott Bonvoy category 4 hotel does not offer an executive club lounge, nor is it well located. It is, in fact, found towards the airport and is quite a distance from the center of Zurich.
8. Courtyard Zurich North
Courtyard Zurich North is in Oerlikon near the airport and 7 minutes by public transport from Zurich downtown as it is just a 3-minute walk from Zurich Oerlikon Station. Many companies, Hallenstadion, and the fairground are within walking distance.
Of course, airport hotels are not in the city center which is why this hotel is not the best Marriott in Zurich and comes at the bottom of our list. It is, however, a fairly decent hotel with a fresh, contemporary style, plush bedding, and black-out curtains.
There is a gym and a Kitchen & Bar, with a current, seasonal, and inviting all-day food & beverage service. Worth mentioning, this Marriott Bonvoy category 4 hotel does not offer an executive club lounge.
