Ritz-Carlton hotels are often some of the best Marriott Bonvoy hotels in an area. They also tend to offer the best club lounges in most cities. Interestingly, you can get a bunch of free benefits at the Ritz if you book it via our luxury travel concierge. There’s no Ritz-Carlton in Venice, but there is a St Regis, two exquisite Luxury Collection Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Venice, and an excellent JW Marriott. We offer free benefits at all of these hotels. W Hotel is missing, but there are mid-range brands like their Autograph Collection, no Renaissance, no Sheraton, but there is a Four Points. There’s also no Le Meridien or Westin hotel in Venice.
1. The St. Regis Venice
With an Avant-garde design, The St. Regis Venice merges striking, modern interiors with its historic provenance as the best address in the city. Flanked by the Grand Canal with views across iconic landmarks, the hotel has stood in this privileged position for over a century and a half.
If you want a modern and classy hotel with fantastic terraces, this is an excellent Marriott. If you are after a property oozing history, you will do better choosing the Gritti Palace, and if you want your own private pool, pick the JW Marriott Venice.
The hotel is right in the center, within walking distance from pretty much everything, and just five minutes walk from St. Mark’s Square via alleyways full of luxury boutiques. It has 129 guestrooms, 40 suites (some with a terrace), a garden terrace overlooking the canal, and a fitness center.
If you are paying (as opposed to redeeming points), the price is upwards of €700 EUR per night or around 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. If you have any suite-upgrade certificates from your Bonvoy Ambassador elite status, this is the place to use them. You can upgrade to a Grand Terrace suite, which is really something. You get a private terrace with views of the Santa Maria Della Salute Basilica.
The communal areas in this newly launched hotel feel more modern than Venetian. The Italianate garden provides access to a range of dining and beverage options at Gio’s restaurant, St. Regis Bar, and Arts Bar.
2. JW Marriott Venice
JW Marriott Venice is another one of the best Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Venice. If you book this as a redemption, it is cheaper than St Regis or the other ultra-lux options, and it hits the spot in terms of luxury. The JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, which is on its own private island, costs 50,000 Bonvoy points per night to stay at as it is a Rewards Category 6 hotel and is one of the cheapest luxury Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Venice.
The problem is that although the hotel is fantastic, with beautiful rooms, a fantastic rooftop pool, and another pool flanked with loungers, numerous bars, restaurants, and beautiful extensive grounds (and some rooms with their own private plunge pool), the hotel is a 15-minute private JW Marriott (free) boat trip away from the center (+ wait time & loading time), which is a pain if you want to go out in the evening or have a leisurely drink at a bar in a different hotel. You are somewhat marooned on this beautiful island.
JW Marriott is the exclusive inhabitant of the small Venetian island of Isola Delle Rosa, one of the largest islands in the Venetian lagoon and the youngest. It was artificially created in 1870 with materials from the construction of the Santa Marta commercial port. This lush green island easily houses the best Marriott I have ever stayed in. The main building sits in the center of the island and is home to most of the rooms and the rooftop bar and pool.
Outside, the entire island is yours to explore. Take a wander along meandering paths past groves of olive trees and fields of poppies, and you’ll reach outbuildings, which include some of the higher-end rooms with their own private pools. Continue to a church, herb garden, family pool, the Dopolavro Dining room, and the Gardino Grill, all set in a pretty garden. The Spa at the JW Marriott Venice is also immense and offers the same superb views across the water.
The rooftop infinity pool just beyond a rooftop bar and restaurant area ticks all the boxes. Just look at the view in the photo above! Gobsmackingly good views can be enjoyed from comfy seating on a beautifully decked terrace. Music plays in the background, and there are plenty of daybeds and loungers. Dip your foot in, and the pool is as warm as a slipper, perfect for lounging in the bubbles at the edge. Perfect, except for the fact it is incredibly shallow. There’s another outdoor “family” pool hidden away in the greenery of the island, which is a bit of a trek in your dressing gown but offers the option of swimming, as the pool is deeper, along with some more extremely comfy loungers and just across from a young kids playpark.
This resort is so idyllic, peaceful, and relaxing that you won’t want to leave. The craziness of St. Marks Square, Gondolas, and tourists seem a world away. If you do get bored, the hotel’s extremely regular and comfortable shuttle boat whizzes you right onto St Marks Square.
3. The Gritti Palace, A Luxury Collection, Venice
Overlooking the Grand Canal in the heart of Venice, The Gritti Palace boasts one of the most enthralling views of the lagoon city – from the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore past landmarks Punta Della Dogana and Santa Maria Della Salute Basilica to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
This hotel is a Marriott Bonvoy Rewards Category 8 property costing 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night, the same as St Regis above. The Gritti Palace tends to be the most expensive Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Venice, with prices starting at around €1,000 EUR / night. This means this hotel makes a great redemption if you can find the availability.

4. Hotel Danieli, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice
With its heritage setting on Riva Degli Schiavoni, Hotel Danieli dominates the Venetian lagoon with spectacular views of the Grand Canal and islands. Also overlooking the Palazzo Ducale, the hotel is just steps away from Ponte Dei Sospiri and Piazza San Marco.
The three palaces that comprise the hotel date from the 14th, 17th, and 19th Centuries: Palazzo Dandolo in Venetian Gothic style, once home to the noble Dandolo family; Palazzo Casa Nuova, previously the city’s treasury; and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior, features guestrooms with balconies overlooking the lagoon on its upper floors.
The three palaces house a rich collection of precious art and antiques that play witness to the city’s history, blended with contemporary comforts to meet the needs of cultured global travelers. 5. AC Hotel Venezia
AC Hotel Venezia is Rewards Category 5 hotel so is a cheap redemption and a really nice hotel, but its location is bad. The brand new AC Hotel Venezia is strategically located at the “entrance” of Venice. It is located close to Piazzale Roma, the final bus and car terminal, two minutes walking from Santa Lucia Railway Station and the Waterbus stop, and only 20-minute ride from the Venice Marco Polo Airport.
This modern design hotel, combined with Venetian style details. Seventy-nine rooms, among which 3 Junior Suites and 14 Superior Canal View rooms, equipped with every comfort: a cozy AC Lounge where you can chill out after a day spent discovering the city with the world-famous Venetian aperitif, or the Spritz, where you can enjoy one of our specialties. The problem is that this hotel is not in the touristy and pretty part of Venice. It’s on the edge, meaning you have a trek (well, waterbus ride) to get to where you want to be. You can easily reach Rialto Bridge, St. Mark Square, and all the exciting places you want to visit, but you are not on top of the action. However, this is one of your cheapest options in Venice.
6. Courtyard by Marriott Venice Airport
Ideally located 900 meters from Venice Marco Polo Airport and 20 minutes from Venice, which can be reached by water bus or taxi, is Courtyard by Marriott Venice Airport. It is an excellent choice for those arriving or departing from the VCE Airport terminal, particularly for early and late flights. If you decide to stay here, you will not feel like you are in Venice as it is in a more industrial area and lacks any cutesy alleyways or old sinking, historic buildings.
That said, it’s cheap, and all rooms are equipped with air conditioning and in-room safe. Wi-Fi internet connection is available in public areas of the hotel free of charge. Hot Buffet Breakfast is served every morning. Renewed Gym room is available 24/7. Private transportation to Venice Cruise Ship Terminal is available upon request for a fee if you are connecting to a cruise. Public bus stop right in front of the hotel, direct from/to Marco Polo Airport or downtown Venice – bus #5 – every 15 minutes.
7. Four Points Venice Mestre
The very cheapest Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Venice (and this is not the best) is the Rewards Category 3 Four Points Venice Mestre. Situated between the lagoon and the mainland, this hotel is located in an area called Sestieri. This area has alleys, museums, historic buildings, majestic palaces, small isles, and ancient villas. Four Points by Sheraton Venice Mestre, strategically located near the city center as well as the railway station. It is a bargain for Venice, but it is not a luxurious hotel.

Review: JW Marriott Venice
I write this review while lazing on the balcony of my Junior suite, dappled in sunlight at the JW Marriott Venice. The outlook is not what you would expect of Venice; all I can hear is bird song, and all I can see is an expanse of green forested gardens with the odd glimpse of Venetian Lagoon through the trees. This impressive luxury Marriott hotel opened in March 2015. Arrive by water taxi if you can. Not only is this a glamorous way to travel through Venice, but the dock at the JW Marriott is like something out of a Bond movie, providing a great first view of the property.
