Book A Hotel

We review the best executive club lounges at hotels and the best lounges at Amsterdam airport (AMS) separately.

Amsterdam is great. Cruise on a canal bus. Hop on and off at key attractions like the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, Rembrandt Square, and the Anne Frank House. Shop at big label boutiques on Pieter Cornelisz Hooftstraat and quirky, local shops in De 9 Straatjes, or hunt for bargains at the Waterlooplein and Albert Cuyp markets. Enjoy tulips in the spring and bike riding year-round.

I have compiled a list below containing the club lounges available across luxury hotels in Amsterdam, Netherlands. I list the lounges that I consider the best of the best. I will be reviewing each of these hotel club lounges in detail so that you know what you’ll get if you book a room with club lounge access or get upgraded to a club lounge for free because of your loyalty status.

1. Hyatt Regency Amsterdam

In our top spot offering the best hotel club lounge in Amsterdam is the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam. Awarded for its refreshing sustainable ‘living’ décor, the 5-star Hyatt Regency Amsterdam offers spacious botanical-inspired guestrooms, relaxing public spaces, a 24H Fitness Centre, and Mama Makan Indonesian Restaurant Bar & Terrace.

The lobby is fantastic. It feels like you’re in an Asian jungle. The rooms are modern and completely functional, many with a jungle hint too. This hotel is ideal for a business trip or World of Hyatt members looking for a club lounge and a luxury bed, but this hotel might not be for you if you are after something boutique in the heart of cobbled and canal-filled Amsterdam. This is a bold, modern, quirky Dutch jungly hotel!

The location is good, in the city center, bordering the trendy east neighborhood, 900 yards from Artis Zoo. Popular points of interest near Hyatt Regency Amsterdam include Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Rembrandt House, and Royal Theater Carré. The nearest airport is Schiphol Airport, 11.2 miles from the hotel. This Hyatt Regency Amsterdam also offers private parking, a fitness center, a bar, a restaurant, and a sauna.

The Hyatt Regency club lounge here is super stylish, one of the nicest we’ve seen, with dark wood parquet flooring and bold round globule lighting. During the day, light snacks like rice crackers, fruit, cookies, nuts (including delicious smoked almonds), and cake can be scoffed. There is a decent spread of appetizers in the evening, from cheese and cold cuts to fruits and small hot items, along with complimentary beer and wine.

There is plenty of seating at tables and on sofas, and lovely windows look outwards and let in plenty of natural light.

Globalist world of Hyatt members can take breakfast in the club lounge or downstairs at the street level at the Mama Makan brasserie-style restaurant. The restaurant offers a fusion of Dutch and Indonesian food for lunch and dinner and an excellent European breakfast buffet in the morning. The extensive buffet includes a wide selection of juices, fresh fruit, bread, pastries, muesli, and other cereals, and hot items like scrambled eggs, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Omelets and waffles can be ordered to the table. Pick a seat by the window, and you can watch the world go by over a coffee for hours!

2. Amsterdam Marriott

The Amsterdam Marriott is currently a Rewards category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotel. It boasts an unparalleled location across the Leidseplein, just moments from Amsterdam city centre’s most celebrated shopping, dining, and entertainment destinations, including the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, and Vondelpark.

This Leidseplein location is particularly good for the Casino, and a multitude of bars, restaurants, and nightlife just steps away, plus the airport bus drops you off right across from the hotel, which is terribly useful. In addition, this hotel hosts one of Amsterdam’s premier city center event facilities featuring 8,740 square feet of contemporary event spaces.

In the evening, unwind with hand-crafted cocktails in their bar before dining on juicy steaks and local produce at their delectable steakhouse. Retreat to renovated accommodations with sleek bathrooms, impeccable modern design accents, and natural materials. Other assets include a 24-hour fitness center and a soothing sauna.

This club lounge is open on weekends and offers free wireless in the lounge. Full breakfast is in the main restaurant and is excellent with everything you could want, including eggs made to order, pancakes, and waffles. The lounge is open throughout the day & for evening snacks and complimentary drinks.

The executive club lounge has also been recently renovated, but it can be very busy with no chairs available and food offered with a bit of a rugby scrum vibe. However, the food is excellent in the evenings, with hot offerings like chicken satay with salads. Enough for an entire dinner. This lounge is one of the best in Amsterdam.

Platinum Marriott Bonvoy members get free lounge access, including free breakfast, light snacks, and beverages throughout the day and evening drinks and canapes.

3. Renaissance Amsterdam

The Renaissance Amsterdam is labeled as a five star hotel, but it is not a patch on the Marriott outlined above. The Marriott offers a better club lounge, nicer refurbished rooms, and a better location.

Renaissance Amsterdam is located near Herengracht Canal and is a 25-minute walk from Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. The movie Museum is only 2 km away. This location isn’t great. It does, however, offer a club lounge that is open throughout the weekend (on weekends, you eat breakfast in the main hotel restaurant).

4. Hilton Amsterdam

The Hilton Amsterdam has a very decent club lounge with great food, morning and night, six different liquor choices, beer, and wine. Service is also attentive here, but the lounge can get very crowded in the evening (too crowded at capacity). At these times, they offer vouchers for the bar in the lobby.

The hotel is a bit out of the way, although you can take the tram pretty much anywhere in Amsterdam. The bonus of the location is that it is fairly quiet in the Hilton’s hotel rooms at night.

5. Sheraton Schiphol Airport

The contemporary Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel is directly connected to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol via a covered walkway and is ideal for layovers. The hotel is easy to walk to on the sky bridge. It’s on the left shortly after you leave the moving walkway.

The hotel is only a short 3-minute walk away from the airport’s arrivals and departures hall and 20 minutes away from the city center of Amsterdam. Relax and unwind in one of their 407 modern and stylish soundproofed guest rooms or suites with their signature Sheraton Sleep Experience® bed.

The Club Lounge is on the 8th floor and has a good selection of breakfast items and evening snacks. It feels like a business club lounge, but this hotel should also be considered for a leisure trip to Amsterdam. Trains go from Schipol to Amsterdam Central every 10 minutes, and the station is a few steps away from the hotel entrance. You don’t even have to go outside due to the enclosed walkway. You can buy a multi-day transport pass so you can get around anywhere you like for a set fee, so in terms of a cheap and convenient base, the Sheraton Schiphol Airport ticks all the boxes.

Other Marriott Bonvoy hotels in The Netherlands include Hotel Nassau in Breda, which is part of the Autograph Collection and does not have a club lounge, Hotel Van Oranje by Autograph Collection in Noordwijk aan Zee with no club lounge, and Hotel des Indes in Amsterdam without a club lounge. There is also a Marriott in The Hague and Rotterdam, both with decent club lounges.

You may be wondering about your ihg options in Amsterdam too. There is a beautiful InterContinental Amsterdam that we reviewed and that does not offer a club lounge but is a fantastic, historic hotel and our luxury travel concierge offers great free benefits at this property. The Andaz Amsterdam is another great hotel choice without a club lounge, and again, we offer free benefits here too.
