As delays and cancellations of American Airlines flights continue to haunt travelers who choose to fly American, many passengers now hate American Airlines. In fact, many experts now refuse to fly American Airlines.
This summer, disruptions on American Airlines have caused more than 1,000 cancellations and delays. Some “lucky” customers who have endured numerous delays or cancellations due to fewer operating aircraft on American’s routes, may be called by American’s “win back” team, with an offer of free American Airlines AAdvantage Miles.
While we all like a travel bargain like our own rather special travel auctions, I am not sure I would want to endure a level of disruption which would result in this call and these free miles.
In fact, it is many of American’s most frequent fliers, who have suffered most and are being offered compensation, usually in the form of free American Airlines AAdvantage Miles. The airline’s senior vice president customer experience, Kerry Philipovitch, has admitted that American has “disappointed people”, and their “win back” team will also be apologizing to passengers when one or more of their flights have gone wrong. While this is not going to make up for American’s problems this summer, it is a step in the right direction.
