Book A Hotel

What are the best and cheapest points hotels with views closest to the Niagara Falls? The nearer you are to Niagara Falls, the better the view will be. But to be super complicated, there is more than one falls at Niagara, and there is more than one Marriott and Sheraton close to the falls. All have very similar names.

Which Hotel Is Closest To Niagara Falls?

The very closest hotel to the Canadian Falls is the Marriott Fallsview, Niagara Tower Hotel and the Embassy Suites. Embassy Suites is marginally better than the Marriott Fallsview because you see more actual falling water within the “horseshoe” of the Falls. Overall the Marriott Fallsview is your best Marriott Bonvoy points redemption option if you want to be close to the falls. The second Marriott in the area is also very good but is across the road from the falls and, therefore, further away.

Which Hotel Is Nearest To Niagara Falls On The American Side?

On the American side, the nearest hotel to the Niagara Falls is the Sheraton on the Falls is the closest hotel, but this hotel is around twice as far from the Falls as the Marriott Fallsview, Niagara Tower Hotel, and the Embassy Suites is from the Canadian side of the falls. That said, this Sheraton is a great choice as it has a fun Reef Park of swimming pools.

Why The Closest Hotel To The Falls May Not Be The Best

The main area for viewing the falls beyond your hotel is Queen Victoria Park, where you board the Boat Ride to the Falls and access the Table Rock visitor center at the top of the Canadian Falls. The Sheraton ON the Falls (on the Canadian side) is almost at the foot of Clifton Hill, so you can walk to everything. All the other Fallsview hotels are around a ten-minute walk to this park. This makes the Sheraton our top choice for a location near the falls and location near the attractions, even though it is not the closest hotel to the falls.

The other Canadian Sheraton is the better of the two hotels with a better club lounge and a better Water Park, but it is not as conveniently located for getting to the tourist park for the boat rides.

Best For Families

The Hilton Fallsview and both the Sheraton hotels on the Falls have indoor water parks. Sheraton ON The Falls has a waterpark directly connected to it, so you and your family can stop by whenever you’re in the mood for some water excitement. Eight slides and many more water attractions converge to make this destination an endless area of amusement. The famed 1,000 Gallon Tipping Bucket, plus rope ladders and stairs, water jets, a splash pad slide, and more await. The waterpark at the Sheraton ON The Falls is the best. Sheraton AT the Falls has The Reef Beach Club & Pool, which is good, but not the best option.

Best For Honeymoons & Couples

Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites for the romantic restaurant and incredible views. The Sheraton on the Falls is also a great choice as it has the best nighttime view of the falls and for watching the fireworks right outside your window. It has the advantage of being better for watching the illuminated falls at night, all of which is terribly romantic and ideal for Honeymooners.

1. Sheraton on the Falls

Sheraton on the Falls is in Ontario on the Canadian side of the falls and has 669 first-class hotel accommodations featuring the Sheraton Signature Bed, designed to help you get a restful night of blissful sleep. This is our top choice due to its proximity to Queen Victoria Park, where you board the Boat Ride to the Falls and access the Table Rock visitor center at the top of the Canadian Falls. The Sheraton on the Falls is almost at the foot of Clifton Hill, so you can walk to everything. Sheraton on the Falls is also the best choice for watching the fireworks right outside your window.

When comparing Sheraton on the Falls vs. Sheraton at the Falls, the Canadian Sheraton is currently much better than the Sheraton on the American side. The American Sheraton feels old, and the service is not great. The Canadian Sheraton feels more looked after and is your best Marriott Bonvoy choice by the Niagara Falls for hotel quality, but it is not the nearest hotel for all the attractions, which is why Sheraton on the Falls is our top choice as it is closest to get to everything!

The Water Park at Sheraton on the Falls is really something special. The Fallsview Indoor Waterpark is fun for the whole family. As North America’s largest indoor waterpark, the Fallsview Waterpark boasts 16 exciting waterslides up to six stories high, a giant indoor wave pool, two oversized adults-only Jacuzzis, a beach house aqua play area, and a tiny tots splash park, plus an outdoor sunbathing area, activity pool, and the Planet Hollywood Beach Club food court.

Sheraton On The Falls is unique in having this waterpark directly connected to it, so you and your family can stop by whenever you’re in the mood for some water excitement.

2. Sheraton at the Falls

Sheraton at the Falls is on the US Side and is in NY state. It is the closest hotel to the Niagara Falls in America but not as good as the Canadian Sheraton above, in our opinion, particularly for service, but it does have the same comfy Sheraton beds.

Sheraton Niagara Falls, NY in the USA offers 392 guestrooms, Starbucks and a TGI Fridays, and The Reef Beach Club & Pool, which is ideal for families who can stay in the Family Suites accommodating up to nine guests (so this Sheraton is actually the best choice for families who want to stay together).

The executive club lounge breakfast is decent if un-noteworthy in both the Sheraton on the Falls vs. Sheraton at the Falls, with fresh fruit and mediocre patisseries and yogurts for breakfast. Cocktail hour in the early evening is also reasonable at both hotels, with cold cuts of cheese, ham, and one or two hot items.

What sets them apart is they have free wine and beer during the evening hours at Sheraton AT the Falls but not at Sheraton ON the Falls. Conversely, Sheraton ON the Falls has a better view and ambiance in their club lounge over Sheraton AT the Falls.

Both Sheraton hotels have great facilities for the family, with Sheraton ON the Falls having a water park while Sheraton AT the Falls has The Reef Beach Club & Pool, making them both a great choice for families. Which is better? The Water park vs. Reef Beach Club? The Water Park is much better in size, slides, and facilities.

In terms of cost, Sheraton at the Falls vs. Sheraton ON the Falls, they both start at around $130 USD per night, but a very pricy 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points as both are category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotels. Considering the point cost, this is a very bad hotel redemption as the rates are usually much cheaper in cash than they are in points. You are getting a very low Marriott Bonvoy point valuation if you stay and redeem your points here.

3. Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa

Once again, there are two Marriotts to choose from at Niagara Falls, The Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa is right on the falls on the Canadian side, about 90 meters away from the edge of the falls. This one probably has some of the best views of the falls and good staff. This is the CLOSEST hotel to the Niagara Falls, and this Marriott Fallsview, along with the Niagara Tower Hotel and the Embassy Suites plus it has great fine dining and a more adult atmosphere.

You can see just how near to the falls that this hotel is to the falls by looking at the Marriott hotel’s homepage, which shows a video of the falls right behind the hotel. They say, “The best view in Niagara Falls Guaranteed”. The result is that this is the best Marriott hotel close to the falls, plus it has a Starbucks in the lobby, which is a bonus. Park at the Fallsview Casino parking garage for cheaper parking. It usually costs $5 or $10 USD (but sometimes more) to leave your car, just a 5-minute walk to the hotel.

432 Fallsview guest rooms enjoy an exceptional view overlooking one of nature’s wonders. Wake up to the sight of the falls, and drift to sleep, mesmerized by its beauty. Rooms here have been recently renovated and are luxurious with sleek modern layouts and sweeping views of Niagara Falls.

The club lounge here is not great. Breakfast in the morning is ok, but evening appetizers are poor, bags of crisps, and not enough food for a full dinner, not even close. The service is fine, but it’s worth noting that this club lounge is closed on weekends and holidays (New Years Day, Easter, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, Boxing Day). See the best club lounges at Niagara Falls.

While the Sheraton’s are both better for families and tend to be cheaper, the Marriott is more adult. This is the most expensive Marriott at Niagara Falls and usually costs from around $180 USD per night, but it can be better valued on points as it is a category 6 hotel, which is the same as the Sheratons above in Marriott Bonvoy redemptions, but sometimes they offer this for a discounted 45,000 points making it a better redemption option vs. what you would spend in cash on this property.

4. Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites

Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites is right on the falls, and your best Hilton Honours redemption or earning option at Niagara. The Hilton Fallsview Resort is situated between the American & Canadian falls and offers an incredible view of both falls. It is also really close, and the views are better from the North Tower (high floor ideally as lower floor views are obstructed by the Casino.

This is a really big hotel with 54 floors offering great views, 2 great restaurants along with gambling at the Fallsview Casino, and less than 10 minutes’ walk from the falls.

With rooms overlooking both the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls and directly connected to Fallsview Casino Resort, Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites is a decent Niagara Falls getaway destination. This full-service hotel features a breakfast buffet, nightlife lounges, and three signature restaurants in the heart of Niagara’s entertainment district.

To get to the road beside the falls, you need to take the Incline Railway for $11 USD return from this hotel. Otherwise, it is a long walk uphill on the return. There is also a nightly fireworks display at 10:00 pm in the summer, which can be seen from the Watermark Restaurant.

The Hilton’s Watermark restaurant has the best nighttime view of both Falls and offers an incredible ambiance for your fine dining experience. It’s also a bit more subdued, making for the perfect romantic dinner.

5. The Embassy Suites

The Embassy Suites and the Hilton’s rooms are significantly larger than the Sheraton and Marriott hotels outlined above, making them excellent hotel choices that are really near the falls. In fact, these two hotels are two of the closest hotels to the falls.

The views from the Embassy Suites Fallsview are amazing, and the rooms are fairly spacious and decent in decor. Low floor rooms are just as good as high floor rooms at this hotel, they all have the view, and you can feel the power of your water from your room! The top floor suites are the highlight and have the best view. A complimentary breakfast with made to order omelets, which is another bonus of this hotel.

6. The Tower Hotel

The Tower Hotel is unique and one of the closest hotels to the Niagara Falls. It was built as a restaurant and tourist attraction and was then converted to a Fallsview hotel in 2005. Highlights are the floor to ceiling windows and a close-up view right next to the Falls.

7. Marriott On The Falls

Marriott on the Falls is your other Marriott Bonvoy hotel option in Niagara on the Canadian side. It is across the street (further) from the falls than the Marriott above, but both hotels are within 100 yards of each other. If you want a better chance of a Fallsview room, go for the Marriott in our number 3 spot above.

The Marriott On The Falls tends to be cheaper than the Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa because the Fallsview is closer. It is worth noting that the Sheratons are definitely the better choice if you have a family and the Canadian Sheraton is the best choice if you like a club lounge.

8. Hyatt Place Niagara Falls

Probably the best Non-Fallsview Hotel in Canada is Hyatt Place Niagara Falls, which is also the newest hotel in Niagara Falls, NY. Opened in July of 2018 the Hyatt Place Niagara Falls has an exceptional decked rooftop terrace overlooking Niagara Falls State Park. It’s under a 10-minute walk to the edge of the American Falls.

It is located on the American side of the falls, and the rooms are fairly basic. Plus, you won’t get direct falls views as this hotel is not as close to the falls, but this is all taken into account of in the price at around $117 USD per night. Plus King bedrooms have a sofa bed in them, which can be useful. This hotel includes a free breakfast exclusively for World of Hyatt members on a qualifying stay, which is a nice touch, and if you book this hotel on points, you can get a room for 12,000 World Of Hyatt points per night, but this hotel does not have a club lounge.

9. Courtyard by Marriott

Courtyard by Marriott hotels, one on the US and one on the Canadian side, both offer a great location and cheap but decent rooms. Their great location puts you nearby the falls. If you are redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points, the Courtyard Niagara Falls and the Courtyard Niagara Falls, USA costs a good value of 35,000 Marriot Bonvoy points per night.

10. Four Points by Sheraton Niagara Falls Fallsview

Four Points by Sheraton Niagara Falls Fallsview, pictured above, costs a good value of 35,000 Marriot Bonvoy points per night. This is the cheapest Marriott Bonvoy hotel with views of the Niagara falls if you are booking on redemption.

Four Points by Sheraton Niagara Falls Fallsview is a 4 Diamond AAA approved property located in the heart of the Fallsview district in Niagara Falls, Canada. Minutes from the Falls and is connected to the Fallsview Casino by an indoor glass walkway, which features gaming, concerts, and shopping 24 hours a day. Make sure you book a room with a view to taking advantage of the best views of the falls. These rooms tend to be on the highest floors.

11. DoubleTree Fallsview by Hilton

Cheaper than the main Hilton, which is directly on the falls and is much closer, the new DoubleTree is the newest hotel in Niagara Falls. While named “Fallsview” only top floors have partial views of the Falls. The DoubleTree Fallsview Resort & Spa by Hilton in Canada is located just two blocks from Horseshoe Falls and American Falls.

12. Wyndham Garden Niagara Falls Fallsview

The Wyndham Garden Niagara Falls Fallsview is cheap with no views, but this budget option is only a ten-minute walk to the Falls.

13. Travelodge at the Falls

The Travelodge at the Falls is a noisy, centrally located budget option but is not ideal for the luxury traveler. This is an economical cheap option.
