American Airlines now offers one of the best ways to get to Europe on miles IF you are flying from the West Coast. Gary from View From The Wing has outlined loads of award availability from San Francisco via New York and you can book these flights without fuel surcharges.
Gary says “West Coast – Europe award travel is tough, getting Premium cabin to Europe on American Airlines (and thus not paying surcharges) is tougher still. This is definitely worth taking ‘AAdvantage’ of. And enjoy American’s Flagship First Dining facility at New York JFK.”
So if you are West Coast-based, these award flights, SFO to LHR via JFK are worth snapping up. If you are flying from JFK to LHR, the news is not so good and most routes include massive fuel surcharges that hardly make booking a “reward” flight worthwhile.
We have reviewed American Airlines in international First and Business Class to give you an idea of what you will experience on board. On the domestic leg, do remember to inspect the chicken in your salad or you could end up in a very bad way.
