Why One Travel Blogger Hates American Airlines But Still Flies With Them

American Airlines is getting worse, yet Gary, who writes travel blog View From The Wing, insists he still chooses to fly American Airlines even though he is one of their biggest critics.

He says that he no longer goes out of his way to fly American Airlines, because American is worse than it used to be, but admits that more often then not, they remain his best option for his flights.

He Hates:

The densified American Airlines domestic product which has less legroom than ever before.
The lack of communication about delays when compared to other airlines.

He Likes:

Their consistently good high-speed internet, American and Delta being light years ahead of United.
Their route network as they are often more convenient.
Their airport lounges. American lounges are open to transcon business class customers as well as elites flying internationally and mid-tier partner elites flying domestically. United’s Polaris lounges are better than American’s Flagship Lounges, from food to design, but are only available to long-haul Business Class customers.

Mile Redemption Options

He also likes American’s international redemption options, redeeming for international first class on the very best first-class products around the world including Etihad, Cathay Pacific and Qantas.

In the UK, the best way to earn American Airlines Miles is with this credit card but it is much harder to hit the 100k target.
