Disgusting: British Airways Saves Money By Not Cleaning It’s Planes

News

For goodness sake British Airways! I try to love your brand and airline. I try to be a loyal Brit but you keep slapping me in the face.

This week, British Airways innovative new idea is to leave planes dirty between flights. Yes really!

British Airways is trialling ways to reduce cleaning. They are not bothering to clean their planes on European flights during turnarounds. They stay dirty until they get back to London.

Our “best of British” airline, which spends a great deal of money on its advertising campaigns (my thoughts on that here), is saving money by not cleaning their planes.

This was first reported on Paddle Your Own Kanoo who mentioned a memo from the cabin crew union at British Airways which outlines a test not to clean planes between intra-European flights.

The company has confirmed that this trial is being carried out, focusing on some short-haul routes. Flight attendants are being asked to collect as much rubbish as they can prior to arrival. Their union is telling them not to do any cleaning “under any circumstances” once the flight lands, emphasizing “it is absolutely imperative that crew DO NOT do any cleaning of seat pockets, crossing seatbelts etc”.

So if all goes to plan, expect cabins full of rubbish and old hankies and disturbingly dirty toilets. What a shame.

I wonder if the infamous British Airways bed bugs will return?
