Now we know the odd Japanese pilot has had alcohol issues but you rarely hear of an American Airlines pilot that has drunk one too many before trying to fly a plane.
In this rare story and just 24 hours ago, according to @FlightAlerts_, an American Airlines flight scheduled to depart Manchester at 11:05am on Friday 8th February, was cancelled after the pilot was arrested on suspicion of performing an aviation function when over the prescribed limit of alcohol.
The two comments on this tweet say it all: “WOW” and “Yikes”.

No airline is immune to this problem. Perhaps you heard about the “steaming drunk” British Airways stewardess who tried to prove she was sober by reading a book… upside down! Read more about this on the Telegraph.
Drunk flight attendants are undoubtedly naughty, but they are not driving the plane. Pilots need to be on the ball to fly a plane. If they are not, it could crash, and that is unforgivable.
