A private Cessna 210 aircraft crashed this week with two crew members losing their lives. The plane didn’t make it much beyond the airfield in Atizapán de Zaragoza, Mexico and crashed into a wooded area just 30 metres from the airstrip.

We do not know much more about this terrible incident but this airfield is used to train up pilots, so it is possible that this plane crash may have been new pilot error. It is also worth highlighting that aircraft safety regimes are not as stringent for small private aircraft as they are for legacy carriers, which means that, sad as this crash is, most of the planes regular travellers fly on have a much better safety record.
For a start, the pilots are fully trained and the safety checks on large airliners, although not infallable, are very comprehensive. Last week I wrote about a plane without wheels and everyone was fine!
