Regular readers will know that one of the things I truly adore, is a new resort in a gorgeous part of the world that offers something a little different. So, unsurprisingly the December 2018 opening of ANANA Resort Krabi in Thailand rather got my heart racing! It combines 5 star service and mind blowing surroundings with an innovative ecological concept resort.
Why We Love This Hotel
ANANA Resort Krabi boasts spectacular scenery, as well as excellent facilities, all with an eco-ethos that runs throughout and helps connect you to the environment and to this beautiful place.
Location is a massive part of what makes ANANA Resort Krabi so special. The Sustainable Green Globe Certified Resort is surrounded by 360 degree views of green jungle and forests and is framed by Krabi’s famous Limestone Cliff. You are just 8 minutes from the AoNang beach where you can find shopping, dining, and entertainment. All this is made super accessible by the resorts on demand E-Tuk Tuk limos. You are also near to popular tourist spots at Aonang Mosque and McDonald, Aonang.
Best Time To Visit
Krabi, on southern Thailand’s west coast, is a year-round destination so you really can’t go wrong. April-May and September-October are the hottest months with the later also being the wettest. From November to March the humidity is reduced and the cool breeze makes the temperature seem just perfect.
How To Get There
You can fly direct from the UK to Krabi International Airport in just 12 hours. The resort then lies a pleasant 30-minute drive from the airport.
Style & Character
The resort oozes eco-chic. It’s not showy or glossy but has a wonderful laid-back luxury vibe about it. A generous use of natural materials and natural colours makes the environment that surrounds you the undisputed star of the show. The interior décor is all about clean lines, subtle ethnic prints and luxury finishes.
Service & Facilities
The facilities here are exceptional. You have access to beautiful a Private Eco Beach Club: Andamana Beach Club, with its private Tidal Eco Beach. It’s not just sun, sand and sea here either (although, of course, there’s plenty of those!) you can indulge in beach massages, make use of the free wifi, take a private 4 island cruise, go horseback riding along the sands and feast on Thai and Western lunches served alongside tropical drinks. To indulge and unwind back at the resort, head to the epic, 200 sqm. and rather wonderfully named: Sparadise. This is the place to go for a revitalising treatment, to make use of the gymnasium which also offers personal trainers, but there are also some rather impressive facilities here; a Himalaya Saltcrystal Grotto, a heavenly panorama sauna, an aroma steam and even the little ones aren’t forgotten at the kidzone with minipool! The other very exciting thing about the ANANA Resort Krabi service and facilities, is their impressive setup for yoga. The Sky Garden Yoga Shala is a beautiful space for open air morning yoga and meditation and is also used for sunset culinary events. They even offer yoga retreats where guest professionals from across the world visit to help enrich your personal journey.
Stay in one of 59 Spa Studios, Spa Suites, Thai Studios or Friends and Family Studios. The rooms all have a seating area, as well as balconies, with the exception of the Friends and Family Rooms for very thoughtful safety reasons. The room amenities are very well thought out; so, the air con is whisper quiet (a personal bug bear of mine!), you have a choice of pillow, bed linens are luxurious and the rooms have rather funky mood lighting. If you are travelling with small children then the Friends and Family Studios are ideal, having 2 Queens Beds and 2 single beds laid out as very cute bunk beds.
The Thai and Spa Studios are spacious with King Beds but discerning travellers will undoubtedly fall for the Spa Suites which are that bit more spacious, extra-glam and have a Jacuzzi so you can end your day relaxing in bubbles!
Food & Drink
The resort has several dining options, all which pride themselves on serving fresh, healthy cuisine using local produce, much of which comes directly from their very own farm. The main restaurant, Streats, is the place to go for a delicious breakfast and an authentic Thai dinner. During the day, stay refreshed at the Pool Café which serves a range of snacks and healthy bites which you can wash down with a Tropical Cocktail or Mocktail or two. You can also enjoy Thai Tea Time at the Club Lounge or opt for a Vegan meal and smoothie. As sun sets, there’s nowhere better than the Roof Garden for cocktails as the sunsets.
