Horrific Queues At Heathrow: Americans Arriving In London Face Misery

I flew back into London Heathrow Terminal 5 last night after enjoying Christmas in Monaco and discovered almost never-ending queues in the arrivals area for passport control for people everyone with Non-EU passports.

These horrendous queues not only took up the usual winding, roped off area allocated to non-EU travelers, but also took up almost the entire queuing area for EU passengers too. All EU passengers without biometric passports or with kids under a certain age have a separate queuing area at Terminal 5, but “our” EU queue was tiny, and non-EU citizens, largely Americans took up most of the queue area.

This always happens around Christmas. The Heathrow staff were doing their best by handing out bottles of water to those waiting, but this hardly alleviates the misery of queueing for hours after a long flight over to the UK. Heathrow, sort it out!
