We are big fans of Japan Airlines. They are a great way to fly as long as their aircrew isn’t drinking! This month, a Japan Airlines flight attendant was found drunk when boarding a flight, but claimed that the “the positive result might have resulted from the mouthwash she was using,” the Japan Times reports.
This 46-year-old female flight attendant was flagged by two fellow staffers who “smelled alcohol on her breath” on 20th December after boarding the plane at Narita International Airport. The attendant in question failed a breathalyzer test, with 0.15 milligrams of alcohol detected on her breath, over the 0.10 milligram-limit set by Japan Airlines for its pilots.
Earlier this year, a Japan Airlines pilot who reported for being drunk before a London-to-Tokyo flight. He was almost 10 times over the alcohol limit was sentenced to 10 months in prison. Moving forward, the carrier has acknowledged that they need to instate tougher restrictions on alcohol consumption for their flight attendants and engineers.
