It is painful to watch an American Airlines try to win the cost-cutting race over budget carriers. British Airways went through a similar phase of cutting down on it’s Club Europe offering and now American Airlines seems to be doing the same to its domestic First Class food offering.
British Airways Improves Their Club Europe Food
The good news is that for British Airways passengers who fly around Europe, BA have gone back on their food reductions and the new meal, even on a 2-hour flight, is reasonable. Take a look at their new afternoon tea offering Admittedly, the fig and Ryvita were pretty disgusting but overall, there was something worth picking at and more on offer than the previous rendition of their afternoon tea!
American Airlines Cuts Back Their Domestic First Food
American Airlines Domestic First Class is getting all new meals starting Wednesday and there is no BA-style positivity for American Airlines passengers.
The new meals can be pre-ordered if you’re seated in the first class cabin, 24 hours prior to departure. This will ensure that you have your first choice meal. You can alternatively order a fruit and cheese plate snack, or you can order a ‘special meal’ like Asian Vegetarian, Muslim, or Kosher.
The new lunch and dinner menu is designed by chef Julian Barsotti, and will be in rotation for the next year.
American offers a choice of an entree or a salad at lunch. There are four salad choices and 4 entrées. All of the salads come with a grilled chicken breast on the side (so that vegetarians can choose the non-chicken).
