The Christmas party season is upon us (well almost!) and English designer, Alison van der Lande will keep you sparkling until you book your late night uber home.
She designs all sorts of lovely handbags and tennis bags along with some stunning wraps complete with Swarovski sparkle, which will keep your spirits up even on the coldest of days. I can’t resist the black wrap, which is ultra glam and has crystal edging. Its perfect for draping over your shoulders when wearing your little black dress to a party and will keep you warm and stylish.
Alison launched her label 11 years ago when she couldn’t find the dream weekend bag she was looking for.
“I had always wanted to create and make something, and with a love of shopping, luxury labels, colour and leather it seemed like the perfect opportunity to do it myself!” said Alison.
With a background in PR and marketing, Alison spent time researching and developing the concept. The first collection was launched in 2004, with The Classico Weekend bag – a half-moon shaped travel bag in bright colours. Within three months of the launch, it had been snapped up by Selfridges – Alison knew she was onto a winner.
2006 saw the launch of first handbag collection including the best-selling Daisy Doo (named after her daughter Daisy). This easy day bag now sells in thousands every year and comes in over ten colours and the Jacqueline Clutch and Sarah hobo bag are catching up.
A luxury sports collection, with a range of unique tennis and golf bags, for both men and women has a wonderful following and they are seen as the ultimate sports luxury style statement.
Stockists have included Harrods, Conran, Melissa Odabash, Goodwood. Celebrity fans spanned Hollywood, New York and London – and bespoke commissions include a 007 Casino Royal special, the Derby bag for the worlds richest horse race – the Epsom Derby, and bags can be seen regularly on TV in popular series including Spooks, My Family and were used in the fabulous award winning The Night Manager with Hugh Laurie.
