For special occasions on my summer calendar, for luxury travels with that extra special reason, and sometimes just because, I love to wear hats! When I stumble across a chic new hat brand I’m excited because it feels like somewhat of a niche. It’s a way to define my style that echoes of true class and of a bygone era when hats wouldn’t just have been saved for those special occasions. I was delighted therefore, to discover Simply Laura Hats recently and they more than meet my requirements for the perfect hat!
About Simply Laura Hats
The inspiration behind the collection is both travel and Laura’s southern roots. A fabulous hint of the Caribbean can sometimes be said to shine through in the designs. They are feminine, strong, beautiful, subtle and colourful! There is something for everyone in the collection, some of my favourite pieces include the ultra-romantic Days Gone By, a couture taupe parasisal Cloche hat with dark taupe and pearl accents and also, the summery and more playful Summer Wine, a couture sinemay hat with fuchsia flower accents that manages to look both glamourous and very fun! They like to say: “a Simply Laura piece isn’t merely a statement, it’s a declaration of a lifestyle” and this phrase truly encapsulates the style behind these stunning hats.
The Background to the Brand
Designer, Laura Moser, was born in Louisville, Kentucky the home of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby; the first leg of the Triple Crown. She takes inspiration from her grandmother, an elegantly dressed women who worked in an exclusive boutique during Laura’s childhood. Originally Laura started to create hats to complete her own Derby style but soon she was taking requests and the brand grew from there. The designer, who recently featured in Tatler, now creates hats that are not only worn to the Kentucky Derby, but to Garden Parties in Washington, DC., Church functions in Alabama, and countless weddings and luxury travels across the globe.
