Book A Hotel

Although we are in the middle of an unusually glorious English summer, my thoughts have recently turned to the ski season and readying my ski muscles as well as improving my children’s abilities in time for our ski holidays. Excellent news then that a new and innovative indoor skiing experience has just opened in the UK hosted by Skieasy on the site of London’s original indoor ski slope at Dukes Meadows, Chiswick overlooking the River Thames.

Skieasy Maxx-Tracks

The Skieasy Maxx-Tracks equipment is truly innovative. It means that, unlike traditional indoor ski centres, they can maintain full control over the skiing environment. Impressively this means they can adjust the gradient of the slope and the speed at which it runs so it can be perfectly matched to your level, ability and development. This is a brand-new generation of indoor ski experience that uses a continuously rotating ski track. It rather resembles a giant treadmill (just a white one!) just for skiing not running! There is no need for snow and even better, no need for queues and lifts that slow down your lessons. There’s even a giant mirror so you can check out what a skiing dude you are! And more importantly, it’s very useful for self-analysis to aid your improvement.

Also, on the same site is a golf course, driving range, indoor and floodlit outdoor tennis courts, a gym, treatment rooms and parking for 150 cars. Within the Skieasy facility are changing rooms and a café/bar.

Private Ski Lessons

Personally, I would strongly recommend intensive and private ski lessons for yourself and your children. It works brilliantly together as a family and readies you for the snowy slopes. If you’re a serious skier yourself then lessons in the UK are also a great way to give your skills a boost ready for the winter slopes so you don’t have to waste time training when you’re over there but can hit the mountain trails ski or snowboard ready.

All sessions include full instruction with qualified snow sports instructors who are also passionate snow sports enthusiasts and extremely patient teachers. The maximum instructor to pupil ratio is just 1:2 so the sessions feel really exclusive and you get so much more focus and attention. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced skier, you can improve your skills and technique 8 times faster than on snow!

Other Sessions

If you don’t have long and are new to skiing but really want to make the most of your time at the centre, they have recently launched a Discover Fast Track session. In a single 4 hour session they pack in what you would normally cover in 3 standard sessions so it’s a fab crash course for those of us that are time poor.

Skieasy is also available for parties and events and would be wonderful for a kids party or a corporate event. They even have a fully licensed on-site catering facility so your can partake in a little apres-ski merriment too!

What do I need to bring?

If you have your own ski boots feel free to bring them but the centre provides everything that you need to get up and skiing. Ski or Snowboard Boots, the Skis or Snowboard themselves, Poles (if required), Helmets (mandatory for all children under the age of 12 and all snowboarders) are all provided for you. The only thing you need to bring is long, thick socks to stay comfortable, a long sleeved lightweight top and loose-fitting trousers plus plenty of adrenalin!
There’s also a viewing gallery so your friends and family can check out your improvement then you can head to the café/ bar and meet them afterwards for a full de-brief of your performance!
