Name: The Secret Boutique Hotel
A quaint boutique hotel is the perfect place to rest your head when staying on the darling island of Lefkada in Greece. The Secret Boutique Hotel meets this brief very nicely indeed.
The Greek island of Lefkada remains one of the Ionian’s most unspoiled islands. Often referred to as the Caribbean of Greece, it boasts stunning exotic turquoise waters, beautiful beaches, sheer cliffs and charming traditional villages. It is also wonderfully un-touristy so luxury travellers should visit soon before everyone discovers this Greek gem.
Lefkada is joined to mainland Greece by a narrow causeway. Fly into Preveza airport, on the Greek mainland and it’s a half hour taxi transfer to the island from there.
Lefkada Town is situated towards the north of the island and is the island’s gateway and capital. The hotel lies hidden in the traditional, picturesque and romantic alleys beside the twinkling blue sea. You are literally right in the heart of the old town and are just a 2-minute walk to the main square. Surprisingly, despite this amazing location, your hotel is quiet and peaceful.
Style & Character
The interior décor is beautiful; contemporary but very comfortable. There is a soothing colour palate of cool greys, white and beige with whitewashed brick walls and stone and wooden flooring. The rooms are large and airy, especially considering you are in the centre of a town. The whole property feels lovely and new as the hotel only opened in 2017.
Service & Facilities
Amazingly for the centre of a town, you have complimentary private parking, notoriously hard to find in Lefkada! They also provide free bicycles for guests to use to explore the island. The lobby is home to the delightful “Little Boutique”, from where you can purchase very fine Greek handmade clothes, shoes and accessories.
Hospitality is vitally important at The Secret Boutique Hotel. The hotel was created with the intention of providing guests with a unique hospitality experience, indeed it is their motto as well as their reason for being! All the team are all passionate about providing an excellent personal service and are always on hand to assist with arranging hire cars, to advise on the very best places to visit on the island and with organising excursions.
The five guest rooms all have their own private balcony or terrace and each has their own style and character as well as a wonderful name! They are named: Happy, Lazy Day, Freedom, Luna and Rock N Roll; personally, I’d be tempted to choose based on the name! Happy and Lazy Day are both Standard Rooms, Freedom is a Superior Room and Luna and Rock N Roll are both Suites. The Suites do offer that bit more space; Rock N Roll is the largest and has a funky industrial vibe but I’m swayed by the stunning secret terrace with Luna which gives you a panoramic view over the beautiful terracotta rooftops of the old town.
Food & Drink
To set you up for a day of exploring Lefkada, your hosts provide a delicious and generous breakfast buffet. They will happily furnish you with restaurant recommendations too and with your location, they’ll generally be just a short stroll away too.
