Style, Character & Service

The views here are sensational and exist in every direction you wish to look; you very quickly get seduced by the countryside and relax into a slower pace of life. Combine this with the little luxuries that discerning travellers so value and you have the recipe for a refreshing back to nature experience.

The service is exceptional; nothing is too much trouble and your very welcoming hosts are always on hand (they live locally) should you need anything or wish to pick their brains!

Alexander House

Alexander House is a stunning, luxurious retreat with lots of lovely communal areas and immaculate grounds. Inside there’s a huge open plan living and cooking space, a vast grand dining room and a games room. Outdoors you’ll find a BBQ and dining area, a heated swimming pool with a glass retractable cover and a covered hot tub, as well as an outdoor fire pit, sunken trampoline, outdoor children’s play area and a 5-a-side football pitch.

The house sleeps 21 across 9 bedrooms and there’s also a self-contained annexe for 4. A wonderful option for a group travelling together is to rent both and the 2 acres of land that comes with them for exclusive use and totally take over this little corner of Scotland. This works equally well for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, he dos, or just as an excuse to get together!

The house can be taken as catered or self-catered so you can choose whichever suits you best depending on how much you want to be looked after and how many budding chefs are within your party! They also do catered activity breaks as well as weekend and short breaks throughout the year.

Alexander House Glamping

If glamping is your idea of rural paradise then you can stay in one of two stunning yurts or one of five bell tents.

Staying in the yurts is definitely glamping and not camping; you have your own king size bed with a sprung mattress, luxury feather duvet and pillows and crisp white linens. There’s even an electric blanket for chilly nights. Each yurt sleeps 2 adults. You also have your very own private 12ft ensuite bathroom with a roll top bath, a proper flushing toilet and there’s even a heated towel rail; and yes, you will be forgiven for forgetting that you’re not at a five star hotel! Other facilities include parking, a wood burner (with your first basket of logs thrown in) and of course the wood-fired 2 person hot tub positioned on your private deck just so for optimum star gazing.

The beautiful bell tents sleep 4 and also comes with an actual comfortable bed! They work very nicely if you have an event or wedding in the main house and some guests prefer a more back to nature experience.

If you want to cook your own feasts and dine al fresco by your yurt, a gas camping cooker and utensils are provided, there’s even a fridge with a freezer compartment, but there are so many amazing restaurants on your doorstep, let someone else do the hard work at least some of the time! Ask your hosts for their recommendations, they’ll be only too happy to oblige.

Watch this space too as 2019 brings a new addition to the glamping portfolio when the gorgeous Cabin Juniper will be taking its first guests!
