United has confirmed cutbacks to meals in domestic First Class for flights under four hours outside of departures between 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Previously you would be offered a full meal, maybe a chicken dish with a side salad, a roll, and a dessert. The new lunch is showcased in the tweet below:

The array of drinks on offer are also apparently being cut back. This is not the only airline offering a rather measly offering on short-haul flights. The British Airways “Afternoon Tea” on their European Business Class flights is also rather disappointing. My advice is to fill up in the airport lounge beforehand. The British Airways lounges at its hubs in London are particularly good and the extensive food offering in these lounges will fill you up before your flight.
