New British Airways A320 Neo: Where Has My Central Table Gone?

Book A Hotel

British Airways flew its first A320neo aircraft this week, brand new from Airbus. The new Economy seats are thin and don’t recline and the new Business Class seats are in fact the old design of reclining economy seats.

Crucially, the new Business Class seats will not have the middle seat shelf between the seats, like those you would see on other BA planes in Business Class (pictured above). BA will instead simply not sell the middle seat. This means that you will be able to put your stuff on this seat, but not your drinks and food, because the table has gone.

This is a big disadvantage for me. I use my Avios to buy Business Class flights on British Airways so I can work. I always put my laptop on the tray table and my drinks/snack on the shared centre shelf so that I can continue working.

This new plane will be flying on the following routes in Summer 2018. If you want to avoid this plane, I suggest avoiding these routes:

  • London Heathrow to Budapest
  • London Heathrow to Lisbon
  • London Heathrow to Madrid
  • London Heathrow to Warsaw

To see what you would usually experience in Club Europe within Europe (on all planes except the A320 Neo), you can read my British Airways European Business Class reviews and British Airways long-haul Business Class reviews.
