Book A Hotel

When you travel in our long-haul economy (World Traveller) cabin, you can enjoy complimentary drinks, snacks, and a four-course meal, followed by a light snack just before landing. For short-haul, you have to pay for your drinks and food, much like on Easyjet or Norwegian. You can see details of the latest British Airways Economy paid M&S menu, which you can spend cash or Avios on.

It is worth noting that although you can buy the in-flight food with your Avios air miles, the redemption rate is not very good at around 0.7p -0.8p per Avios. If you use your Avios to buy British Airways European Business Class flight tickets, you can get an Avios valuation of around 2p so the 0.7-0.8p is not a great value redemption for your Avios.

To buy the food onboard with your Avios, you simply need to give your BA Avios number to the crew, and they will deduct the miles you spend on food and drink from your account.

I usually book my British Airways flights for free on air miles and American Express Rewards, which convert directly to Avios (along with other airline miles). The free Amex Gold Card is an incredible deal with a huge free bonus of Membership Rewards and even more if you apply through our referral link. You can apply for the UK & US card right here.
