A rather surprising find tucked in Hertfordshire is the very contemporary, stylish and packed-with-art Beales Hatfield. Add to that a 2 AA Rosette restaurant and you have the recipe for a perfectly English escape.
Beales Hatfield is located in Hatfield in pretty Hertfordshire just off the A1(M). There’s much to explore on your doorstep; the hotel is opposite the Galleria shopping centre, just a mile away from the University of Hertfordshire campus and 3 miles from Hatfield House stately home. London is less than an hour away and you have the beautiful cathedral city of St Albans and Welwyn Garden City nearby too as well as the rolling countryside of Hertfordshire.
Style & Character
This place is definitely all about style and character! It stands out as one of the finest contemporary hotels in the region. A clever blend of natural and man-made materials; cedarwood, vast glass panels and steel, create a modern, sleek look. The 4-star hotel is also packed with beautiful artwork which is the result of a long-standing and remarkable collaboration between Hertfordshire’s oldest family firm, Beales Hotels, and the Department of Fine Art at the University of Hertfordshire. The artwork is central to everything that the hotel represents and there are now over 120 original pieces, many of which celebrate the beauty of the local area.
Service & Facilities
As well as exploring all the stunning artwork, there are full conference and events facilities onsite, complimentary Wi-Fi and wired broadband and pay-as-you-go charging for electric cars. If you want to keep active while you’re away, guests receive complimentary access to the nearby Hertfordshire Sports Village.
The charming staff are polite and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble and it’s one of those places where somehow someone seems to just appear whenever you need them!
Choose from 53 individually designed, ensuite, contemporary bedrooms. They do those vital little extras very well here; the beds are extra comfortable (top-of-the-range from Hypnos), the bedding is Egyptian-cotton, you have a power shower and under-floor heating in your bathroom. There are Contemporary Rooms, slightly larger Executive rooms, Luxury Suites and Accessible Rooms. For luxury travellers, the Luxury Suites are a must. Spacious (double the size of the Contemporary Rooms) with an extra bathroom so you can have one each!
Food & Drink
The OutsideIn Restaurant has received 2 AA Rosettes for its outstanding cuisine. They pride themselves on using the finest, freshest seasonal, local produce. The restaurant is open throughout the day and serve a wide range of cuisines to cater to most tastes.
The cosy, sophisticated TalkBar Lounge and Bar is the place to go for a light bite or relaxing beverage, they have a baby grand piano too to add ambience. The Afternoon Tea comes highly recommended here, take it on the terrace if weather permits.
