This is not a luxury option, but if you need an escape and don’t mind hard small seats, WOW Air, the airline from Iceland, is celebrating the launch of a new service from New York City’s JFK airport to Iceland, with one-way trips to Iceland for just $99 from April through June. Flights are also available from Chicago, Pittsburgh and Boston for $99. Other cities come in slightly more but are a complete bargain nonetheless.
The advantage of flying WOW Air is that Wow Air’s fleet is much newer than many rival carriers. You may also catch a glimpse of the Northern lights. When flying to Iceland/Europe, sit on the left side of the plane. When leaving from Iceland to the US, pick a seat on the right side. There are, however, many more serious disadvantages of flying WOW Air on their cheapest tickets. These cheap tickets really don’t include anything, not even ordinary hand luggage allowances or food and drink, plus on most WOW air flights you are routed through Reykjavik which adds to your flight time.
Business Class (or Biz) is more like Premium Economy and includes luggage and food but for the cheapest fares, pack light, baggage, onboard meals and seat assignments cost extra. We advise booking quick as the base fares get snapped up pretty quickly!
