Book A Stay

Located on Kerala beach, this beautiful resort is boutique in size with just 18 thatched cottages sat on pretty lawns and shaded by palm trees. The highlight of the resort is the huge and stylish pool which you will find just behind the golden sand beach. Being the first luxury hotel in the northern Kerala region, a stay here is a true escape.

Location

This intimate resort is located in a quiet area, off the tourist trail and next to the unspoilt, sandy Kerala beach. The nearest airports are Mangalore 95km away and Calicut 170km away. These domestic airports offer direct flights from Mumbai, Cochin, Bangalore and Chennai.

Style & Character

18 thatched cottages are dotted about across lawns and between palms. Beyond these, a 70ft infinity pool overlooks the Arabian Sea. We love the tropical gardens where banana trees and sweet smelling hibiscus flowers grow. The resort was built in harmony with nature and from September through to March you are in with a good chance of spotting endangered sea turtles which hatch on the beach.

Service & Facilities

The beach restaurant is a wonderful place to unwind and indulge under an umbrella. It serves an excellent Keralan breakfast, although also offers Western options. Dinner is, of course, all about grilled seafood and you can dine barefoot if you like, the atmosphere is that relaxed.

Annapura restaurant requires shoes and is a romantic restaurant complete with candles and tune of the ocean. It sits in an open pavilion, serving delicious Indian chicken and vegetarian dishes washed down with a Kingfisher beer.

Spend your daytime in the Ayurvedic spa, or you can yoga and meditate. If you prefer, there are miles and miles of unspoilt beach to stroll and explore.

Outside the resort, guides can take guests to visit Ayurvedic medicine makers and can arrange backwater cruises on the hotel’s own barge.

Rooms

The thatched cottages have views out to sea, to the gardens, or onto the pool. Our favourite is the Private Plunge Pool Cottage with a private plunge pool in a walled garden.

Each cottage has a veranda with wicker seats to relax on. Inside, the look is stylish with hugely high ceilings. Bathrooms are partially alfresco, so you can bathe to the scent of the flowers and trees that grow in your bathroom. Request a room with a “bath with a view” if you like to laze in bubbles.

Neeleshwar Hermitage resort is a peaceful, beachside retreat, with a bare-foot vibe. It is a place to relax and to be cared for by lovely staff.
