The Seine River is suffering from severe flooding. Too much rain upriver has resulted in the waters overflowing.
France has been inundated with downpours throughout January. As a result, current water levels in the Seine are 17 feet. They are expected to rise as high as 20 feet this weekend.
What does this mean for travellers? The city is on an orange alert, tunnels, roads, and parks have been closed, part of the Louvre was closed as artworks were moved to higher ground and worst of all, swarms of rats have been flushed from the sewer system and are roaming the streets.
