Book A Stay

There’s something I adore about discovering a new favourite café, my latest find is an alfresco gem on the edge of Hyde Park – Urban Meadow Café & Bar. It works beautifully for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and even does a fine meal in the evening and a mean cocktail!

Location

The café couldn’t be better located, literally opposite Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. You are just a two-minute walk from Queensway or Bayswater tube stations and despite the prime location, are conveniently outside of London’s Congestion Charge Zone. This location works very nicely after a spot of shopping on Oxford Street or perhaps for an afternoon tea before catching a show at the West End.

Style & Character

Inside, this stunning café is light, airy and chic, with wall to ceiling windows and large tables so you can spread out and relax. The décor balances the urban London location with the rural, greenery of the park outside with their copper leaf motif. And outside is a real treat. The 100-cover, a vast heated terrace is beautiful and is very inviting; fabulous for relaxed alfresco dining.

You’re guaranteed a warm welcome here, the staff are enthusiastic and make it a sociable place with a real neighbourhood vibe. It’s dog-friendly too so your four-legged friends can come for a pitstop after a stroll in Hyde Park! Keep an eye on their offers and events too, they like to treat their customers at special times of the year and sometimes just because.

Rooms

No, the café doesn’t do rooms but it is on the same site as the DoubleTree by Hilton-London Hyde Park! The hotel is a great option if you are looking to stay in London for pleasure or business. As well as the excellent location, they offer a fantastic range of amenities including complimentary Wi-Fi, a complimentary gym, concierge services and a large Business Centre. Guest rooms are contemporary with custom-designed beds and flat-screen TVs, as well as mini fridges and coffeemakers. Upgrade to a Deluxe Room for a private balcony offering stunning views across Kensington Garden. Suites add living rooms and panoramic views of the beautiful Hyde Park.

Food & Drink

The menu is bursting with fresh, locally sourced, seasonal British delights. All washed down with a vibrant selection of drinks. Start the day with a delicious traditional British breakfast or opt for a lighter choice of porridge or granola, though personally I can never resist the Eggs Benedict! Some of the breakfast favourites can also be eaten throughout the day from the Brunch Menu. The afternoon tea here is legendary and goes down even better with a bottle of sparkling Prosecco!

The choices on the daytime and evening menu are huge! So, you can have a light snack, nibble on a grazing platter, go for a salad or sandwich or go the whole hog and check out the gourmet options on the à la carte menu. Popular choices here include the delectable pan-fried scallops and samphire, the lemon and herb spatchcock baby chicken and the rich sirloin steak with béarnaise or stilton sauce. Portion sizes are generous, it’s all about classic comfort meals, delightfully presented and served with a smile.
There’s a Children’s Menu too which doesn’t just include the usual classics but some healthier option too which is great to see.
