I like to rant about my frustrations with the degraded British Airways in-flight service, but a United passenger took their frustrations one step further by smearing faeces over the toilet walls of more than one United toilet and on their flight from Chicago to Hong Kong flight UA895, on January the 4th.
According to Gary at View From The Wing who writes a compelling travel blog, the adult male smeared faeces on the walls of more than one bathroom, then took off his shirt and tried to stuff it down a toilet.
Once identified, he was cooperative with the flight crew and was seated when the flight landed in Anchorage. Upon landing, the man was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
What can we take from this incident? Clearly, my polite rants are not having any impact on the British Airways PR team, but this kind of action would be a step too far for me! I can’t help feeling terribly sorry for the cleaner who had to clean this man’s mess up…
It has been a month of surprising occurrences in air travel. I have also reported on the video of a man who ran, naked and drug-fuelled, through Phuket airport.
