Name: West Lodge Park Hotel
Location: United Kingdom
There’s nothing quite like a luxurious country retreat in England; a tree-lined driveway, rolling country hills and a certain elegance, you can enjoy all this and more at West Lodge Park Hotel in Hertfordshire.
West Lodge Park Hotel is located in Hadley Wood in Hertfordshire, you are conveniently just 1.1 miles from Cockfosters tube station, where trains to central London take 40 minutes. It’s just under 2 miles from the M25 motorway and just over 2 miles away is the Trent Park Golf Club. The hotel is in easy reach of Essex, Buckinghamshire and North London. The hotel itself is set in 35 acres of stunning, tranquil English countryside. The wonderful retreat feel envelopes you as you arrive and drive down the grand tree-lined driveway.
Style & Character
The hotel is family owned and managed and has been since 1945, this family vibe continues with their guests, with many families being loyal return visitors who have been coming to stay in the hotel for generations. Over the years the hotel has gradually been turned into the luxurious and elegant 4-star country house hotel that is today. The grounds are spectacular and a wander through them is an essential part of a stay here.
Service & Facilities
Those extra special grounds are home to an Arboretum which features over 800 species of trees from around the world with the total number of trees now over 4500! It also includes the Plant Heritage National collections of Hornbeams and Swamp Cypress. Take a tour and combine it with afternoon tea or simply stroll and soak up the peacefulness after dinner.
There is also a courtyard jacuzzi and sauna area which is reserved exclusively for guests staying in the Luxury Rooms as well as complimentary entry to the nearby Revive Fitness & Spa for all guests.
The service is exceptional here, all the staff throughout every department of the hotel go out of their way to make you feel welcome and are very helpful.
There are 58 ensuite guest rooms, choose from Classic, Executive, Luxury, Dog-Friendly and Accessible. Unless you need one of the later, then I’d definitely recommend Luxury Rooms for fans of luxury travel. Partly because they include access to the jacuzzi and sauna, but they also enjoy their own private patios, some have charming 4-poster beds and there are lots of little extras too such as Nespresso coffee machines and extra deluxe toiletries from Gilchrist and Soames that just make you feel that little bit special.
Food & Drink
The food is definitely another reason to stay at West Lodge Park Hotel. The Mary Beale restaurant offers a wonderful fine dining experience with a weekly changing menu using ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink at the Terrace Bar and soak up the views across the grounds. Don’t forget those afternoon teas either – they are rather infamous locally!
