You may have read some of my British Airways rants including my article about the bed bug infested Business Class seats. British Airways continues to disappoint. This time, one of its pilots almost went drunk-flying.

This potential drunk driver was pulled off a plane due to fly from London Gatwick to Mauritius last week. This 49-year-old “first officer” was grassed up by cabin crew who smelled alcohol on the pilot’s breath.

What happened? This particular first officer was handcuffed and lead away from the plane in shame.

The flight ended up leaving 2 and a half hours late with a replacement pilot who wasn’t drunk. The law is very strict regarding pilot drinking, with many countries not allowing even a trace of alcohol in the pilot’s system, but pilots are not continuously breathalysed so occasionally one slips through the net.

I have flown with British Airways many times and I have also reviewed my British Airways First Class flights, my British Airways Business Class flights and my Premium Economy flights.
