A power outage last night at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport, the world’s busiest airport, lead to grueling delays and frighteningly dark terminals for thousands of passengers.
Some passengers thought the outage was the result of a terror attack, but it was later revealed that the blackout was caused by a fire in a Georgia Power underground electrical facility. The two substations serving the airport were damaged including the failsafe backup power system.
The result? More 1,000 flights cancelled, terrifyingly dark terminals, reports of smoke in the terminal and fuming passengers.
